    Artificer's Metamagic Spell Completion

My group recenty had a debate regarding this subject. The question is what happens when the UMD check fails. It doesn't say so we decided it functions normally without the metamagic applied instead of the spell fizzling like a failed concentration check. The debate was regarding a specific...

    [Eberron] Artificers and metamagic

    1) I believe so, as metamagic feats don't have spell casting as a prereq. 2) I don't think so, infusions aren't spells.

    house of mirrors combat rules

For added fun check out the Transient Plane of Mirrors in the 3.0 Manual of the Planes. They think they see a reflection, they do see a reflection, the reflection suddenly reaches out and grabs them, and possibly pulls them into the mirror. Do keep in mind entering the transient plane of mirrors...

So I want to make a zombie character...

If you're using Eberron material/setting check out the Karnnathi skeletons and zombies. They are intelligent, but don't offer advancement or level adjustment. They're both undead with the appropriate damage reduction, but don't have any bonus feats. (Their 2 feats are from their 3 HD.) Racial...

    Gestalt in Eberron?

Well House Jorasco is known for selling healing services. The changling rogue could invest in UMD and wands of cure wounds. Then the warforged could invest in repair wound wands that the sorcerer could use.

Looking for alternatives to divine healing

Now one could explain druids, rangers, and maybe even paladins having access to divine magic without the presence of gods, but does anybody remember the old Lankhmar setting that had white and black magic. (divine and arcane respectively) Lankhmar had gods and the white mage could cast as a...

    Multiclassed cleric/cleric?

I agree, but somebody could be a cleric of a god of nature / druid. Combos would work with other divine classes in the complete divine I'd think. Likewise Paladin / cleric of LG god. The only specific reason to take cleric numerous times would be to poach domains. Now if somebody were to switch...

    Artificers Overpowered?

Mirror Image is a bad example, I hastily added it. It actually falls in the category of same effect more than once in different strengths, which is a paragraph above the one I quoted. From how I see it using the same spell/infusion/power numerous times is the same effect, but possibly with...

    Artificers Overpowered?

Using Metamagic Item several times is the same effect with different results just like the example polymorph. I assume you're referring to casting bullstrength & bears endurance on the same recipient. Those are not the same effect. I should clarify and say you can cast different infusions on an...

    Artificers Overpowered?

I don't follow how this is possible. Same Effect with Differing Results(PH pg172): "The same spell can sometimes produce varying effects if applied to the same recipient more than once. For example, a series of polymorph spells might turn a creature into a mouse, a lion, and then a snail. In...

    Artificers Overpowered?

It think it depends on how much cash the artificer has. Item making is what they're good at and likewise affecting items. Any other caster can make use of the same feats. Any other caster is going to have more wealth after crafting their own magic items as opposed to buying the same thing at...

Help me munchkin out an enchanter!

Check out the Fatespinner. They get a decent spell progression and can manipulate DCs, saving throws, and force others to reroll. Be aware that the 3.5 Protection from Evil line of spells totally blocks mental control for both charm & compulsion effects.

    Beholders and Blindess

Good idea. It works, they have no special immunity to blindness. They are still free to blindly blast away with their eye rays and antimagic eye. Now blinding something that "targets" (as in no attack roll or area effect) opponents sucks a lot more. When line of sight is required you really need...

    bluff as feint

The invisible blade PrC improves the bluff/feint action from standard to move equivalent to free, but the errata states that it can only be used once a round.

What makes a high or low magic campaign?

I don't necessarily like low magic settings, but I thought one of the better ways of achieving it was to use non-casting varient classes and/or making casting core classes prestige classes. This would require a new core class to make these PrC feasible however. Lets call it the 'scholar'. With...

Protections for a high level wizard?

Phantasmal Killer is so much more fun and effective when you know the fears of the character.

    Minor Magic Items

When you say a common man, if you mean a peasant who makes a few silvers a day I'd say you're out of luck. Its not to say however, that your customers wouldn't be the wealthier types such as craftsmen, merchants, and even aristocrats. The latter two items sound like prestidigitation items that...

    Scry skill from 3.0

I believe it was completely eliminated. The scry spell in 3.5 has a will save instead of a skill DC. Just pick a different skill.

Enlarge person size increase not the same as MM size increases????

Because its a first level spell. Expansion [XPH] is similar. Righteous Might follows the MM size increase closer, but its 5th level. Animal Growth is close too and 5th level, but animals only of course. Giant Size is closer yet, but its more than one size category & level 7. Did I miss any?
