    Quasqueton's Classic Adventure discussions

Some may well have been lost in the crash. I might have missed some iconic classics. And I might have misnumbered the threads. It's been a long time since I went through them with an eye on organization. Quasqueton

    Quasqueton's Classic Adventure discussions

I started using “Quasqueton” on another D&D message board (now gone), and continued using it when I transferred here to ENWorld in 2002. “Bullgrit” was my online gaming handle, and the name I went by on message boards related to those games. I started using them on the Internet (in separate...

    Quasqueton's Classic Adventure discussions

Oh, MerricB, I hope you didn't spend a whole lot of time compiling this list. http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/95412-catalog-classic-adventure-discussions.html Although it looks like the original list must have missed one or two that you found. Quasqueton

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

If you are suggesting that the results of this data conform to my pre-research expectations -- that is, they confirm my personal bias -- you are incorrect. I have stated in this thread that I expected different results. The data didn't confirm my bias, it showed me how my bias was incorrect...

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

It seems to me that most of the arguments against the data in this thread are due to the comparison between AD&D1 and D&D3. Had I just listed the level advancement for the AD&D1 party through the adventures, most everyone would have just nodded their heads and said, "Yeah, that's about right."...

CRs/ELs -- apparently the designers don't read the rules they talk about (old thread)

So how did this concept work out? Quasqueton

The fireball spell through the editions

I just added the D&D4 version of fireball to the list. http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/169729-fireball-spell-through-editions.html#post2972187 Quasqueton

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

If I were to make time to do a Basic/Expert D&D adventure path, what would be the quintessential modules? I've done B2 - Keep on the Borderlands, and the PCs could finish that at 3rd level. What would come next? I've always thought X1 - Isle of Dread would come next, but that is a convoluted...

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

I'd love to do this, but this kind of thing takes a lot of time that I just don't have as much of now as I did when I started this project. Heck, it took me over a year to get around to finishing with this last module of the AD&D1 series. If I find some time, I'll try to do another adventure...

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

AD&D1 - Queen of the Demonweb Pits Finishing the series by chasing Lolth into her Abyssal home! The above does not include the xp for defeating/killing Lolth. Defeating the demon lord* on her home plane (where this entire module takes place) is worth 124,700 xp. I did not include her xp value...

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

Teaser: I finally got around to going through Q1 - Queen of the Demonweb Pits. I have the raw data (xp, gp, magic) and I'll post the results for this last module in the original adventure path for AD&D1 in a day or two. I'm looking forward to finishing this iconic adventure series. Quasqueton

A party that comes out on the other side of T1-4 will be...

Wait, what? I'm confused. Oh, oh, I get it. I'm being joked with. Other people give their opinion/anecdotes of "7-10" and it's accepted as the "considered opinion". But my hard data saying "7-10" is dismissed as "his opinion". OK, then. Never mind my rant above. I'm just the target of ironic...

A party that comes out on the other side of T1-4 will be...

I'm always amused when people around here claim to know my "real" motives for making a post. No, let me be honest: it does not amuse me to be told I have motives other than or different from or opposed to what I directly state. Where, exactly, do I so much as mention this "thesis"? In fact, I...

    Revisionism

Actually my numbers in that thread do not include xp for magic items in any way whatsoever -- I specifically noted this in every data list I gave, and even restated it in at least one detailed follow-up post: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showpost.php?p=2929460&postcount=20 As for intended speed...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo's RPG SuperSTAR Contest Top 32

If "formatting" includes game mechanics ("well formatted" = "solid mechanics"), then yes. If "formatting" just means "follows the written rules of the contest" ("well formatted" = "no more than 200 words, written like items in the SRD, etc."), then formatting is just a qualified/disqualified...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo's RPG SuperSTAR Contest Top 32

Why do you quote what I said and then rephrase it to something completely different? Usually when someone does that, they're just laying bait to start a fight. Seeing how the first round went hasn't inspired me to look at the next rounds. Quasqueton

Pathfinder 1E Paizo's RPG SuperSTAR Contest Top 32

See, I would think that the winners would be Coolness 9-10 and Technical Merit 9-10. I saw the rules, and they were not imprecise. They were pretty darn straight forward and clear. In fact, a stated part of the contest was testing to see if the entrants could follow the rules. Quasqueton

Pathfinder 1E Paizo's RPG SuperSTAR Contest Top 32

But they let the contest rules/guidelines slide for items they thought were cool enough. That's just not right. They let the SRD-format requirement slide if the item was cool enough. They let the word-count requirement slide if the item was cool enough. They let good-mechanics requirements...
