    Eric "Shade" Jansing (1971-2012)

I didn't know Eric very well, but I didn't have to, to know how much he helped this community. My condolences are with his friends and family.

    I'm an unreliable player, HELP!

I'm often unreliable, in the sense that something always seems to turn up at the last minute that draws me away from our current regular game. (It's happened before as well.) Given that the reasons for this unreliability are unlikely to go away, and I want to keep roleplaying when I can, how...

    Hiring the PCs?

The thing is I'm most used to the characters not having a shared history, if this is the player's first game of the campaign. Surely you'd pick 'professional' agents (hired adventurers) over non-professionals?

    Hiring the PCs?

How do people get this to work in their games? I mean when the plot begins with official summons by a lord or king, to begin a quest. I tried asking this here, but it suits a discussion much better.

"Classless Class" - Classes as starting templates with open-ended development

This run down might help inform your choices, it looks like a pretty inclusive list of character development systems. Infact, this looks like what you want:

    Secret History of the NWoD?

An excellent question popped up on the Roleplaying Games Stack Exchange site the other day, that left me stumped: How does nWoD's Secret History chapter relate to the other core books? Does anyone know if the secret history is linked in *any* way in any of the other World of Darkness books? If...

EnWorld Character Art Request Thread... 2!

Long time! No see, ENWorld! I was digging through my old files and found a request I put in for my 4E dwarven warlock. I don't think I ever got a reply, so I'm putting it back up for anyone wanting a stab at drawing her.

Improved Initiative is objectively better than Danger Sense

Indeed, the shifty stabby stabby rogue takes DS as he will have a high dex and will likely go first, but wants to make sure. the fighter who wants a boost takes II, as he may have a very poor dexterity, and needs the boost.

Justifying high level 'guards', 'pirates', 'soldiers', 'assassins', etc.

Brainless Pirates... Do you read Terry Pratchett? Vimes, and Carrot are certainly 10+ level guards. Tea Time is (or was) a highish level Assassin. People above this sort of level can't really be random, at least in their own world. That is to say that it may seem like some random guard...

Improved Initiative is objectively better than Danger Sense

I think I'd still rather have DS, it's more assurance for me. Though I'd probably take both, if I wanted one!

Improved Initiative is objectively better than Danger Sense

But if you get a low roll, say a 1, then II makes that 5. If you have DS and you roll a one then you get another go, 75% chance of beating that 5. So there is a 25% chance you'll not win that tie. Like everyone says, DS is reduscing the chance of a low roll. II is boosting your low roll, but...

Can you make sense of my weather chart?

Taking another look it does seem like it would be stabler than I thought, I hadn't really thought about the numbers. But does one months weather carry on?

Can you make sense of my weather chart?

It seems odd there is no roll for a month to have standard, "Stable" weather. IT always changes. I realise there is a 'move to standard weather' but that's not the same is it? Also is it culmulative? I would have though that each month there is a good chance to be 'reset'? Or that what the...
