No they are not beautifully illustrated, they are very utilitarian. But I prefer the format that is used to lay them out compared to the books.

Some one at the store or convention has to purchase the module at least once. They are not getting it for free from anything printed so far. The only exception being the premiere module premiering at a convention.

I am hoping so as well, but with them taking down the Season 1 and Season 2 modules and them already appearing for sale online.....we may already have some insight into where this is going.

I prefer play in the 1st through 6th level range. But I also like the exp tables for leveling to be a lot slower in advancement. But I grew up on 1st and 2nd edition. I loved the exp tables for leveling then.

That is not being micromanaged on every nuance by any means. The Living Greyhawk campaign guides were not much longer than what we have now and it had pages of allowed and disallowed stuff listed at the end. I am willing to bet that there are plenty of DM's out there that would allow it...

It makes a HUGE difference. Independent Creature - Attacks whether mounted or dismounted. Thus allowing the PC and its Mount to attack each turn. Controlled Creature - Attacks only when dismounted if the DM determines it would do so normally.

Realize that using DEX for attacks you will be unable to use the "Reckless Attack" feature and you do not get the bonus damage when Raging. But you can definitely make a DEX Barbarian work.
