How are people supposed to get jobs?

Around here they have associate positions that don't require advanced degrees, but that might not be universal. It also might be limited to larger libraries or bigger cities.

How are people supposed to get jobs?

Given your qualifications and the jobs you said you enjoyed you should try the public library. I don't know what the requirements are in your neck of the woods, but many library systems have entry level positions that require a bachelor's. There's often a civil service test involved too, but my...

The Lightbringers' Expedition to Castle Ravenloft - updated 12/19

Thanks for writing up another session. I've always been curious about how people run horror campaigns in 3.5, plus I was a big fan of Silver Quill/Spellforge Keep, so I'm having a blast reading this.

Westeros and Iron Heroes - Ideas?

Being out of print isn't your biggest worry - I've seen it at several shops, you could probably find it if you wanted it. The real problem is that it's bigger than any encyclopedia volume I've ever seen and retails for $50.

OOtS #511: Guerillas in Their Midst...

Exactly. "We musn't fight each other. Surely we should be united against the common enemy." "The Sapphire People's Front!" "No, the hobgoblins."

OOtS #511: Guerillas in Their Midst...

I liked the bit at the end with the name of the resistance movement. It had a "Life of Brian" feel to it.

    Balancing E6

I was thinking that I might allow PCs to add 1 point to an ability score at 16, 22, 120 and 190 thousand experience, just like they would if they continued leveling as normal. Would this cause any balance problems that I'm not foreseeing? Are there reasons other than balance not to do it? I'm a...

How about: The Salmon Mousse Benefit: Your death effects are effective against targets that would normally be immune.

Savage Tide Advice - Please no spoilers.

I'm playing in Savage Tide right now and I think you should go for it, too. Go ahead and give up evocation, too, if that's the character you want to play. Let the rest of the party worry about doing damage. I would, as a courtesy, make sure that you and your DM are on the same page about which...

Which Color Scheme Do You Use?

I use stealth all the time. For some reason it just feels a little easier on my eyes.

    Building a Halfing Sorcerer/Rogue

Woops...beaten to the punch. I do think that the ray is a good spell to take, though. Once you get third level spell slots you can empower it and do some serious strength penalizing.

    Help with Sorcerer & survival!

On your way to mirror image and false life, be sure to find access to mage armor and shield. If you know a combat is coming, get them up. Other than that, your best bet for the first few levels is to stay out of combat completely. Stay in between party members, and a fair bit behind the front...

Which Is The Stronger Character Class - Sorcerer or Wizard?

I think they shake out to be pretty close. Four bonus feats, plus scribe scroll, are pretty powerful, but only if you take all twenty levels in wizard. I voted wizard because I've found that being one level behind the wizard in play is huge, especially in published adventures.

Any 1st level feats that give a Sorceror another spell

I only see "study" used once with the sorcerer. I don't see it in chapter 10 of the PHB or chapter 2 of the DMG. By including the bard in the section on page 179, but not using "study" in the bard's class description, the use of study is inconsistent. Can you understand my reluctance to accept...

Any 1st level feats that give a Sorceror another spell

I shouldn't have used research and study interchangeably. I still can't buy your distinction between the two, though, because study is only mentioned in passing in the class description for the sorcerer. There aren't any other descriptions of what you can do with "study," but there is a...

    What ruins a campaign?

I've never had burnout ruin a campaign, just end it. Sometimes after a campaign has been running for a while one or more people are ready to be done. If you've had fun, though, I don't think it's been ruined. Ruined campaigns usually boil down to people not being on the same page from the...

Any 1st level feats that give a Sorceror another spell

Woah, if the sorcerer were explicitly allowed or the wizard explicitly barred, we wouldn't be having this discussion. For the rules to be explicit, they would need to say that the sorcerer can learn spells from those other lists. What it says is that they may learn "unusual" spells. That's...

Any 1st level feats that give a Sorceror another spell

This is the same ability that the wizard has to research spells, though. The DM is well within their rights to allow a wizard to learn spells from the cleric list through study, too. The bard doesn't have that text in its description, either, I wouldn't use that to prevent bards from researching...
