Looking for a unarmed fighter class name

Well, it is a Final Fantasy-esque Setting, where characters are quite powerful... The inspiration for this class is Sabin, from Final Fantasy VI (III in US). This monk-like class is meant to have different fighting styles to choose from, and some awesome ki energy-displaying abilities. Tifa...

Looking for a unarmed fighter class name

I'm working on a class for my new setting that is similar to a monk, but is not trained at monastery and is not so disciplined. I want a class name that's not so tied to the oriental monk we all know. Any ideas? (better if it is only one word not a 4e-like two-word name)

    Dual wield two Shields?

Hey, Thanks everyone for your thoughts, specially Stream... it doesn't sound like a bad idea now... I migh even try it myself... at least as a NPC in my next campaign. I have a question, the Shield Block and Wall of Steel you speak of are maneuvers of the ToB, right? (not maneuvers from a...

    Dual wield two Shields?

A friend of mine came up with this character concept: A Fighter that fights with a shield in each hand... Maybe exotic round shields with a sharp edge, or spiked shields... It does look wierd, but maybe it is character with a very exotic personality. He wanted to take all the cool shield feats...

Forked Thread: Once per day non-magical effects destroy suspension of disbelief

There is a problem with what some of you understand of what's in-game in 4th edition. Even if YOU, The Player are the tactician who decides which power to use during combat, it does NOT mean that your Characyer, the PC, actually knows what exploits he is allowed to use. In combat, the rules...

    Fourth Edition just feels... incomplete

I also think it feels incomplete... I guess I miss the fluff. The 3.x book made you feel inside the game, it generated a better atmosphere... The PHB looks like (-don't kill me!-)a guide to a videogame.

    Excerpt: The Warlord

Sorry for this offtopic but... Can someone copy/paste the text here please? I'm in a PC of my college and I can't enter wizards' web in this PC.

Cleave: Give me room to work, my minions!

Then why the heck is it called cleave?? You don't cleave through anything now. Now we have: You almost hit the Guy next to your target, tiring him a little bit. or You Almost hit both guys, but the second is less tired than the first one.

Cleave: Give me room to work, my minions!

Unless my brain works very differently than most people's, I think ainatan's was a valid concern: It is actually too simple and doesn't acomplish much. 3.5 cleave was very simple an elegant. It grants another action, but it only does when you drop something. You could nerf it by dealing half...

Cleave: Give me room to work, my minions!

And there goes the thread. I think ainatan was actually trying to get somewhere. He gave a lot of other reasons. It's other's posters fault to keep talking about the bag of rats. It was just an example

    D&D 4E 4e houserules

I would've thought you'd house rule the 1:1:1:1 movement and areas stuff, ainatan.

    WotC_Dave: Druid!

I'm pretty sure we will get a summoning class.

    WotC_Dave: Druid!

I guess this "hybrid" role, is more like you either fill one role OR the other at any given time, but not simultaneously. While in normal form the Druid is likely to be a controller: weather spells and stuff. While in animal form, he is mostly a Defender. And, thank God, can't cast spells...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

I was thinking... Maybe it is a good character concept... Maybe a morally devastated hero who ended his life with suicide that was suddenly raised by a mysterious (good) cleric. Inspite of being disgusted with life he has to deal with it because he has some destiny to achieve, being reluctanct...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

You know what.... The Destiny of all my PCs (other than their own motivations and personal quests) is to fulfill the friggin' goal of the campaign i've spent hours and hours thinking, writing and whatever (Kill the BBEG, save the world, save a country, destroy an evil God...) If Bob the...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

Even if there only 10 guys that know Raise Dead (9+ level clerics), The Great Kindom of Galifar could have found at least one of them. And if the beloved king is killed... "you raise the taxes, you sell stuff or even sell yourself but you get those 5000 gp within a week or you can say goodbye...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists
