    Change to Tempests and Doubleswords?

I checked this in my Character Builder last night. It looks like that the bonus from the Tempest Fighter option only gets added if you wear light or chain armor - meaning that if you wear no armor, the bonus is not added in. Once I equipped the armor slot, the bonus was calculated correctly.

R&C Spotlight Interview with Michelle Carter

Good point – I think I’ll need to include such a “forbidden love story” in my next campaign :) Might be a bit off topic, but I actually do think that to a lot of people the thought of rape (a fate worse that death) is much worse/evil/vile/etc. than murder on some sort of imagined scale of...

R&C Spotlight Interview with Michelle Carter

Don’t you think that it’s because that a human and elf creating an offspring is something that most players can relate to (because elves are – you know – hot), while a human and an orc creating offspring is strange at best (because orcs are vile, evil and ugly) or more likely violent. I actually...

Effects lasting until the end of the encounter, w00t!

While this is a valid assumption in WoW, I think that the big difference here is the DM. A good DM would never let his players get away with such a predictable behavior. Building challenging encounters and running them intelligently is the cornerstone of DM’ing, imo.

    Fluff vs Crunch

For me mechanics are about 90%, fluff 10%. D&D was never a game I could play out-of-the-box; customization (homebrew world, new races, and custom religions) is way to fun to do. What I do want the fluff to do, however, is provide direction and inspiration for how I customize the game. The points...

So, what do you want to play?

Eladrin Fighter in full plate and armed with a greatsword; using his short-range teleport racial ability offensively could be rather nasty I think. Or some sort of Wizard if the ritual rules turn out to be cool.

So... is anyone else coming around?

I agree completely. So far the information WoTC has released about the DI points so much more in the “cash cow” direction than in the “great tool for online gaming” direction. I can easily see that the DI looks promising from a business standpoint, but I’m afraid they are loosing sight of the...

So... is anyone else coming around?

When I first saw the Gencon presentation movie, I wasn’t particularly interested in 4ed, but I’m more or less firmly leaning towards going to 4ed now. The deal breaker for me is how the mechanics work in actual play, so I’m looking forward to playtests and feedback by non-WoTC staff. As it has...

A Technical Look at D&D Insider Applications

The VTT? I've been thinking about the virtual miniatures for the VTT. Just guessing here, but I can imagine several scenarios: 1)When subscribing to the DDI, I get access to all virtual minis – as many copies of each as I would like. This is, of course, my favorite option since it’s free and...

A Technical Look at D&D Insider Applications

I must admit that so far I'm thrilled and exited about almost everything 4ed so far. But the D&D Insider - It just sounds like something I would never use. I think a lot of the thoughs about the virtual gametable looks good though, such as the ability to customize it depending on playstyle...
