    D&D (2024) 1st vs. 4th Level Feats

As a 2e player, I could do without the stat increases, but players today would cope and seethe without them.

D&D (2024) How Would You Make Inspiration More Used?

Inspiration can be delivered once into the toilet and flushed without a whimper.

D&D 5E Exhaustion for old 1e undead level drain

He can make a new character or the party can quest to have him restored some how (restoration is a spell no?). Actually, I think there might even be a sword +1 with wish in that module. It's all part of the fun. Fighting a foe like Strahd is not something any group of PCs should take...

D&D 5E Exhaustion for old 1e undead level drain

Level drain needs to be real and permanent without a restoration spell. Not some dicey supper power you get from resting. Nothing like getting drained to death from a vampire in Ravenloft. Completely terrifying and rightfully so.

    D&D 5E The problem with 5e

There are a few modules I've converted to run across every single edition and I have to say that some editions just don't cut it for my playstyle. 5e is versatile, but the default options for healing and a few other systems are insuffient. For my group the memorable moments happen when we...

D&D 5E From M. T. Black and Ed Greenwood “Darkhold: Secrets of the Zhentarim" is coming in August!

I can't wait for the map of the western heartlands. oh well, this isn't this the first time they have done something in the sword coast region for 5e.

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

To think that the current D&D fan base (those folks who buy all the books) can be excluded for the sake of a "new generation" is a fantasy. That was tried before and it didn't work. Sure some new players will pick up the book in a vacuum, but that small percentage of players will never replace...

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

The point is that even if you don't follow your character's alignment, the DM can evaluate what alignment your character is based on his/her actions. That's because each set of actions can be attributed to an alignment component. No, it's more like if you saw LG on your character sheet...

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

I don't think so, my point is that WotC and JC can do whatever they want. It really won't change things. there will always be division and disagreement on alignment. My entire group likes alignment and I don't see that changing. Even if JC decides that the game is going in the wrong...

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

What one edition takes away another will provide. Do you know what will be in 6e or 7e? I really don't think you will ever see alignment disappear. WotC can do as they wish, but the fan base remains, and they will do as they so please as well. It's probably a safe bet that alignment is...

D&D 5E Player agency and Paladin oath.

Having a paladin in the party can be the source of much conflict. So much so that some players often chose to keep him in the dark about their side quests and nefarious / unlawful activities. If played with a good group of players who don't tend to take things personally it can be a lot of...

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

Considering entire handbooks have been written on the subject I disagree that the game isn't about playing characters of principle. The answer is simple, alignment is a more broad and useful abstraction. As the DM, I don't have the time to write an oath for all my npcs or write a detailed...

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

I don't remember doing that at all. Alignment is not there to force you to do anything. If you don't want to play a LG character then don't pick it. Why lie to yourself?

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

the general case is that doing harm, causing pain, and death = bad . if it's the lives of 1,000,000 rotrubs probably not, but Moander might get angry.

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

Yeah and that would be fine to be CN or CE, but the point of choosing a different alignment is to challenge yourself. If you do just whatever you want in game, the DM may tell you that your alignment changed to that based on your actions. The point is that you can play as you see fit, but as...

    D&D 5E WotC's Jeremy Crawford Talks D&D Alignment Changes

That's a great internal conflict that just begs to be roleplayed. There are two actions here though. Murdering one (assume innocent) person is an evil act. Saving the 1,000,000 lives is a good thing. In this case, the LG paladin may be willing to lose his paladin hood over it...
