Another suggestion on crew, list a minimum full crew and a skeleton crew. If you are below the minimum crew, you are at disadvantage. If you are below the skeleton crew you have severe problems. Exactly, the fights were scattered, we were having to drop the spell to arrive in a timely manner.

I found, especially in outdoors fights, that Spiritual Weapon can be useless once you have defeated your initial foe.
