D&D 3E/3.5 Sunless Citadel: Shadow(s), death and new ideas...

At least a Shadow is CR3 in 3.5... Not 1/2. Encountering a Shadow at first level seems way more scarier to me at level 1 than at level 2-3 by a mile. Even then, it is still pretty dangerous.

D&D 3E/3.5 Sunless Citadel: Shadow(s), death and new ideas...

Thanks for your input. 1. Good idea. I was thinking to make the new shadows roam in the Grove level anyway, otherwise, fighting 3 shadows at once would be impossible. 2. You're right about the tension. The thing is, level one is pretty deadly and they are going to face Belak anytime soon. My...

D&D 3E/3.5 Sunless Citadel: Shadow(s), death and new ideas...

Hey, thanks for your answer. The thing is with 3.5 is most low-level / low cost spell to reanimate people cost the reanimated a level... So by doing that, it would be better to make another character than being revived. Which is not what I want to encourage my players to do. Roaming Shadows...

D&D 3E/3.5 Sunless Citadel: Shadow(s), death and new ideas...

Hi! I'm running the Sunless Citadel for 5 players. Last night, the party went to the room 50, where they encountered a Shadow. Except... They didn't really win against it. Our party composition : Psion Crusader/Barbarian Druid (Deceased) Factotum Rogue Things went really poorly. They didn't...

    Best system for Dungeon Crawling

Thank you all for your answer. It helps me a LOT in making a decision. I'm going to give a try to some retroclone or 4E. I'm going to talk about it with my players. :)

    Best system for Dungeon Crawling

Hello boys and girls. And others. And Goblinoids. There is a LOT of topics about this. And I mean... A LOT. But some are pretty old, 5E wasn't even a thing. So, I'll try to be straightforward for one time in my life. I have some friends who like wargames, playing with maps and miniatures...

    Well designed class and restrictions

I love you guys. Thanks for all your answer. That's pretty constructive and I can see a lot of different point of view. Game design is not that easy. But I think, in many way and if we talk about system that look like d&d and non-social focused, a class system is important. Why ? Because a lot...

    Well designed class and restrictions

These two classes were used uniquely for example purpose and can be enlarged to the others like for bow user type or a magician, etc. Sorry for the inconvenience and lack of precise informations since I still have to do a lot of improvements with my english. The things was to know, for anybody...

    Well designed class and restrictions

Hello guys. I'm going to be concise here. The point is : If you had to design some "classes" for a roleplaying game, will you make them as different as possible and giving them particular power that are proper to their class. Right ? But, for example, we have a warrior and a thief/rogue...

How do you get involved in your character ?

Hi, I was wondering, for a long time, how do you guys get involved in your characters ? Since I'm a GM more than a player, I often ask to my players to make brackgrounds even if they are not really comfortable with this. I thought that it was easier for them to get into their characters after...

    N.E.W vs Starfinder

Sorry, I was talking to ArchfiendBobbie, about the niche. :)

    N.E.W vs Starfinder

That's exactly what I want to avoid. Wargaming. I prefer my game more "Roleplay-friendly" and action-oriented than having ot move square by square some miniatures on a map and having to take care about multiple variables, and numbers from every advantages or disavantages giving by the map or...

D&D 5E DMs, what are the most baffling and/or pointless questions your players ask?

We all have experienced that. Multiple times... I think.

D&D 5E DMs, what are the most baffling and/or pointless questions your players ask?

"Can I do this ?" "Can I do that ?" Stop asking me that question. Just do what you want and then assume the consequences.

    N.E.W vs Starfinder

Hey guys, I was wondering what was the difference between these two different games ? "A lot" you're thinking. I played Pathfinder a little, and I'm interested by N.E.W and old who just came out recently. Then, I discovered Starfinder lately and... They look both awesome. So I was...

DM interference - how much is too much?

Wow. I already saw a lot of GM (Me included) say that it could be great for a player to fill a role, a class or who doesn't want a player to take a particular race or something... But in that case... WHAT A LIST. I think you have to consider what Nagol, ccs, DMMike and Jhaelen told you. I'm...

Highly Roleplay, low "roll the dice" RPG

Thank you, all of you ! I must have been unclear, my apologies for that : I'm not a "real" beginner, if you want. I'm mastering D&D for something like six years. (It's not THAT much when I come here, with a lot of people who are 40+ and playing for something like twenty years or more...) BUT I...

Highly Roleplay, low "roll the dice" RPG

Thank you for your answers. It was more or less the one I was waiting for. I will try to convince my friend to give it a try. I do not have a group of players who are really into "Roleplay" so I'm not used to. Let me know if there is another game that "reward" (Not the word I'm looking for...
