D&D 5E Kenku - Poorly thought out race no matter how cool

My opinion is that Kenku are one of the most poorly thought out races in 5th edition. Even if we put aside the whole creativity/speech gimmick, Kenku are one of the worst balanced races in the game. Their racial features are practically nonexistent compared to other Dex races, such as...

D&D 5E The New Tiers Ranked

Unlike Shield, the flare ability must be declared before a roll (which can hit or miss), rather than after a failed one (and generally knowing whether a +5 is enough to turn it into a miss). This actually makes a pretty big difference to the math for expected DPR/mitigation. Additionally, the...

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

Yes, that is my point. I would use an interpretation similar to the one you yourself posted before JC's tweet was mentioned ("if the target uses their own movement, it triggers BB"). You do not provoke an opportunity attack "when someone or something moves you without using your movement...

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

The problem is that that's not an in-world test. The player's will and the character's will don't actually have a 1:1 relationship. If it did, you could just decide "hey, I'd rather not be affected by Frightful Presence" (though that's an example of a fear effect that doesn't cause you to...

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

So are you saying that you would be able to avoid Booming Blade damage by just roleplaying being scared?

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

I see. My will is "I'm scared and want to run away." Why does that make me safe from Booming Blade?

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

I just said that. What's with the "actually?" Explain why a person getting scared and running away, without magical influence, makes them safe from Booming Blade, using in-world logic that doesn't rely on Booming Blade being all in your head.

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

This way of doing it seems reasonable and consistent with similar rules in the game (Opportunity Attacks specifically work this way, and are the closest thing we get to a clear definition of "willing movement" in the rulebooks themselves). On the other hand, on Sage Advice JC says that a...

Booming blade - how does it crit, and is this legit?

I would rule that the extra damage from the melee attack crits. The damage from moving is a separate effect from the hit itself, and therefore would not be multiplied.

D&D 5E Paladin: Why Are They Often Considered Highly Powerful?

Short version: The Paladin is strong because, without their aura, they are comparable to other traditional martial characters. And then you count their aura, which is one of the best single abilities in the entire game. Mind, I wouldn't say this makes them overpowered, but it does help them...

Will you make transsexual Elves canon in your games ?

Corellon canonically changed genders in older editions, yeah. Nothing new there.
