Good point. Might be that the ability grows more useful as the party levels up. At lower levels, monsters have so few hit points, there is little need for extra damage. Later on, however, I'll bet almost all monsters are going to be taking multiple hits to kill.

Couple of changes I noticed: The Search skill was removed from the game. Also, all classes now seem to have a minimum proficiency bonus of +2, whereas in the final playtest packet, they generally began with a +1. The Hill Dwarf sub-race no longer gains +1 Strength, but instead gains +1...

Just my opinion, of course, but I think I preferred the 4E 10-minute short rest to the 5E hour-long short rest. In fact, these abilities that require a short rest before they can be used again have the distinct feeling of 4E's encounter powers.

Great question! I'd have to go with D&D next. I really liked the direction the rules were going in during the beta. I also can't think of any other RPG releases in 2014 that I'm very interested in. Maybe someone could post a list of possible candidates and help job our memories.
