D&D 4E Where are all the 4E resources?

I totally agree that the Wizard's website is one of the worst when it comes to structure and information. It seems to cater to those who want to look at a cool picture, perhaps two pictures if they feel really patient that day. The website is so bad that the designer would not get any other...

Cover in Melee and contradictions in the PHB vs DMG

After a rather serious quarrel in our game group how to interpret cover and /the new/ stealth, both rogues in two different campaigns resigned/refrained to NO range strikes until Wizard gives a clarification on cover and stealth. (that's why I answered houserule) I really think Wizard has done...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

Signed! I think that changing the rogues lvl 2 Utility "Tumble" to At-will (as the lvl 2 utility Fleeting Ghost already is) WOULD solve a lot! Rogues would definately get much more fun to play again. It's hard as hell to get behind enemy lines to flank /and to get back when needed/ - and I...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

Ah, sorry for perhaps jumping too hard on your statement DracoSuave. /bow/ I've heard "working as intended" too often as a way of /in my eyes/ dismissing sensible discussions. Only the original designers can use those words IMHO and ONLY if they had a firm and clear picture of what they wanted...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

As we've just seen a huge change to the stealth rules I wouldn't dare to use such words. Some thoughts/intentions from designers on how to keep stelathed strikers away from getting focused fire (except for one or two held up by the tank) have just been blown to pieces. Perhaps you have some...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

First I should correct my "Total Cover" to "Superior Cover". It seems the correct wording, thanks Saeviomage. :) Attacking non seen foes Ragarding the question of "Is it possible to attack an opponent you cannot see from your starting square" I've heard some thoughts from a friend playing...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

Thanks Nifft. :) I especially needed your clarification "Total cover means M can't target any corners..." That means he must start hiding before the corner seen in fig 2 (as Abyssaldeath also wrote, but I didn't quite get then). :) Even if it's permitted I dislike the idea of somebody taking...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

Hmm, you may have a point there. I didn't think about that. It may be easiest to think about it happening in combat. :)

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

I changed it. Didn't know people took offense for writing mob. sorry

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

I now think I've discovered the answer to at least question 2b). In the DDI-rules it says: Keep Out of Sight: If you no longer have any cover or concealment against an enemy, you don’t remain hidden from that enemy. You don’t need superior cover, total concealment, or to stay outside line of...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

Suppose we have a corridor shaped like an L. The L is 6 squares high and 4 squares wide. A monster (M) is standing at the top of the L and a PC rogue (P) comes sneaking from the right in the vertical part. M _ _ _ _ _ _ _ P The PC makes a move and ends stealthing. The PC then moves two...

Is there a difference between First Strike and Seize the Moment?

Ok, thanks. Now I have a situation to further clarify surprise and CA. Please correct any errors in the below reasoning. :) PC surprise mobs Suppose you have a surprise round in which the PC's surprise the monsters. Let's say that the PC rogue stealthed ahead and saw a couple of mobs in a room...

Is there a difference between First Strike and Seize the Moment?

Is there a difference between rogue's class ability "First Strike" (PH page 117) and the paragon feat "Seize the Moment" (PH page 205)? And if so; what is the difference?

    New stealth stuff from WotC

Flanking will be very important for rogues after this change and one might wonder where the tumble skill is? I don't think the once per enounter power/utility is enough - the rogue will constantly need to be shifting more squares than one to flank. Remember that the fighter can only push enemies...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

I think this is a HUGE nerf to mainly rogues. IMHO it will be much harder for them to get CA and their Sneak Attacks. This is because of two changes: - You need superior cover or total concealment to start hiding. - You can't hide behind another creature. Earlier rogues could /by our...

    The greatest of stars: Wizard

As I find a few replies to BreHobit verges on being a bit too criticizing, I want to say that I very much apreciate to read his and other peoples view on different game-balances. (That said, I still apreciate the general politensess on these forums, I like it when people discuss constructively.)...

    Does concealment and cover stack?

As in the title I wonder if concealment and cover stack? I may be missing it but when I read PH on page 280 and 281 I cannot find anything that implies it shouldn't. But I want to ask anyhow as 4 ed sparsely gives big bonuses/minuses to attack-roll and the stacking can make a huge difference.

    Help change my Warlord impressions

I've heard that Warlords (and Wizards) are better the bigger parties they are in. For Wizard I guess that a bigger party often means that there are more minions and the wizzy is best in taking care of large groups of those. I never liked the Warlord so I haven't played it, but when I look at...
