D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

I don't care about the name "thug". Call it whatever you want. "Goon", "ruffian", whatever, I don't care. What I care about is how it plays. No, you're right I don't really understand your point, and I also don't know what it means to "be striate" (do i have ridges?). I never mentioned...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

My whole impetus was the goal of making a strength-based rogue. All the features came afterwards. You could make a fighter for sure, nothing wrong with that, it just wasn't my intended purpose. I didn't want two-handed weapons or plate mail as options, and I actually liked the idea that they...

D&D 5E A Knife in the Dark, A Rogues Handbook

See the "Customizing a Background" section in the PHB. Players are free to swap skills for their background.

D&D 5E A Knife in the Dark, A Rogues Handbook

Yeah, Hunter is out, Gloom Stalker is in. I've actually updated the multiclass section a bit for XGtE subclasses, as well as the Unearthed Arcana races section for Races of Eberron. For the fighter multiclass, I don't use gold in my ratings; sky blue is the highest honour. :)

    D&D 5E Houserule: +1 ASI for everyone.

In my anecdotal experience, the +1 is enough to sway most players to pick an elf wizard over a dwarf wizard. I just smoothing out the system a bit for players I know that like a concept, but hold back because of the crunch.

    D&D 5E Attempt at a Kalashtar race

I'd like psychic blade to be a weapon attack, either a remodeled shillelagh or worded like booming blade. Psychic Blade Evocation cantrip Casting Time: 1 action Range: 5 feet Components: S Duration: 1 round As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a...

    Moonfolk

Oooh, it's a pre-existing MTG race. Just googled it. Neat.

[GUIDE] Born to be Wild, a sorcerer guide.

Don't ranged spell attacks suffer disadvantage in melee?

    Moonfolk

Feather Fall would make sense as they live in winding towers up in the clouds. Detect magic also fits with their magical scholar theme. The pic on homebrewery threw me off after reading the description here, as it doesn't have rabbit ears but does have facial hair (fur, whiskers).

    D&D 5E Shadow Monk: Straight, or Monk/Rogue

Yeah, just in my own experience darkness is more common than dim light environments. YMMV, of course.

    D&D 5E Shadow Monk: Straight, or Monk/Rogue

Be aware that you'll be attacking with disadvantage in darkness if you pick human, which doesn't really mix well with the preferred environment of a shadow monk, also disadvantage invalidates sneak attack. Either that or you're constantly burning 2 ki to cast darkvision.

    D&D 5E Houserule: +1 ASI for everyone.

Oh yeah, +2s were expected, and also unavoidable with baseline human. Good catch on mountain dwarf. How's this? Houserule B: Player can choose one additional +1 ASI, up to a maximum of total bonus +2 in any one ability score.

    D&D 5E Houserule: +1 ASI for everyone.

Goal: to mechanically encourage a broader variety race/class combos. Houserule A: Racial +2 ASIs are reduced to +1. Houserule B: Player can choose one additional +1 ASI [edit], up to a maximum of total bonus +2 in any one ability score. Example: Hill dwarf wizards start with +1 Con & +1 Wis...

D&D 5E What is the best "5th" class?

Oh, I'd much rather play a charismatic one, for sure. It's more like I see the fighter, rogue, wizard, and cleric quickly and quietly getting geared up for an adventure, and then suddenly the bard pops out all like "Hey guys, I just composed this amazing ode to....wait, are we going on an...

D&D 5E What do You Think of These Homebrew Subraces?

In re-reading what I wrote, apologies if I came as overly negative. I only commented at all because I liked what you made. Coincidentally, I got approval from my DM for a shadowdragonborn character last year, but ended up choosing something else in the end.

D&D 5E What is the best "5th" class?

In my mind, a "basic" party has a Strong one, a Dexterous one, a Smart one, and a Wise one, so the fifth spot always goes to a Charismatic one. Obviously many classes can cover two roles (rangers are both Dextrous & Wise), but that's my default mental image of a D&D party.

D&D 5E What do You Think of These Homebrew Subraces?

Personally, I think race/subrace design, flavour & crunch, should gently guide towards a particular archetypal class (dwarves culturally and mechanically lean towards fighters & clerics, etc), so I'd be very interested in learning which classes you think each these subraces would gravitate...

    D&D 5E 5th edition force cage spell

A few things: 1) "A target with total cover can’t be targeted directly by an attack or a spell, although some Spells can reach such a target by including it in an area of effect. A target has total cover if it is completely concealed by an obstacle." - If you deemed the cage to provide total...

    D&D 5E [HOMEBREW...KIND OF] A Good Dog

First, I love this so much. As others have said, Monk's damage progression makes a lot of sense. Personally, I'd make them +1 Str +2 Wis (or even +1 Str +1 Con +1 Wis) and give them Unarmored Defense, monk version (or barbarian version with the variant ability scores). Nitpicky stuff: Dogs...

D&D 5E Reliable Talent. What the what?

Oooh man, I'd be quite grumpy if my DM messed with my Reliable Talent. It's a cornerstone of the class. Like others have said, players are international heroes at level 12. These guys are Jason Bourne and James Bond; picking 9/10 locks, lying with impunity, and effortlessly sneaking by sentries...
