Even as Scun backed away from the horde of vermin, Nezrak moved to a position behind Rasereit, where he could offer the torch to the dwarf.
The wave of vermin surged forward once more, engulfing Rasereit, Ogrin and Rillian in its embrace. Nezrak was not caught in the swarm's area, but right in front of him, the features of his comrades were obscured by the crawling horrors of the jungle.
Rasereit swung against the vermin as they enveloped him, igniting a good number of spiders in his strikes(1 damage). Ogrin was less successful in taking advantage of the opportunity given. Both were quickly overtaken by the horde.
(Rasereit takes 2 damage, Ogrin takes 1 damage and Rillian takes 5 damage)
A feeling of nausea overcame Rillian and Ogrin, though the poison did not yet affect them. The stalwart Rasereit resisted both venom and nausea.
Taking the offered torch from the grey elf behind him, he lashed out with burning fury. Only one of the torches lit up a great number of the vermin (3 damage), whilst the other was less accurate and missed.
By this time, enough of the vermin had been set alight that they scattered from the horde. A hundred lights danced about the floor before settling in a charred death. The remainder of the swarm dispersed into the shadows of the jungle from whence they came.
The black mass that was their enemy seperated in mindless flight, their cohesion vanished. The combat was over.
100 XP each.

Scun, breathing hard and holding a flaming stick, surveys the scene. He consults with Mona and rounds up those who have been injured to offer what healing he can. "I think we may be resting longer than we anticipated, friends. Those spiders have hurt us dearly."
OOC: 1 cure light wounds and 3 cure minor wounds to those that look the worst off after the fight.

Mona stood up, her clothes and features muddied and rumpled by the fight. Of course, she didn't participate directly. The halfling cleric of Hyrag only went in to save Scun from an untimely death from spider bites.
She looked haggard and weakened in body, but her eyes spoke otherwise. With tired arms, she took off the mail hauberk she wore and threw it to the ground. T'was getting too heavy, even for her likes.
"More rest in this jungle would only attract predators." she said impatiently, her demeanor completely different from the nervous and scared halfling of before. "The same goes for fires and loud sounds. The sound of our combat will draw more of this place's denizens toward us.
Tend to your wounds and the poison you may have received. We leave immediadately" She stomped on a wayward spider. "There are greater dangers than these vermin in Varras'zul."
ooc: Like Scun, she offers 2 cure minor wounds and a cure light wounds to whomever needs one. She offers to deal with the secondary poison effect of one of the PCs.

As his rage cools, the pain from the spider stings finally reaches Rasereits awareness. He drops to one knee, panting, and lets both fire brands fall from his hands into the wet mud. "Aye... Though Ah won't be likin' it, Ah'll be needin' yer magic..." he admits with a sigh of exhaustion.

Channelling Mongrel power to cure another wanderer, Scun set his hand upon Rasereit's forehead. Magick coursed through the dwarf's flesh, the scores of crimson pinpricks upon his body (healed 9 hp). Rasereit sustained a terrible amount of wounds, but carried them with the fortitude that only a dwarf could have. Whilst tissue damage still remained, the worst and deepest wounds were at least stymied.
Upon the second worst wounded did Mona place her god's healing magicks. Rillian Trillnason's wounds were completely wiped away by Hyrag's grace, at least, according to the alien and foreign incantation that the halfling cleric had. (fully healed)
Of the minor healing magicks she had offered, she used one to cure her kinsman nigh completely of damage (healed 1 hp), with only scar tissue remaining of the spider's rampage.
Mona Ellenrowe sent the remaining healing energies to the Stray Dog's disciple. A few more of Scun's bite wounds closed (healed 1 hp).
During her administration of curative magicks, she appeared to calm down. Those whom she touched felt not the impatience she displayed before. Mona was soon back to her old, caring self.

Also, it has been one day of travel. Take away one day's worth of rations.
Finally, don't forget about secondary poison damage.

ooc: Yes, Scun used his cure minors + CLW to achieve the 9 hp of healing upon Rasereit.
Well Scun knows of the poison's effects: it weakens the physical strength of a person. The characters know (especially those with ranks in heal, survival or similar skills) that poisons don't just strike once. They have to run their course as well.

Requesting Ogrin's help, Rillian takes a minute to carefully transfer oil from a flask to the empty skin. To aid this process, he takes a leaf, rolls it into a funnel, and places it at the opening of the skin. He then has Ogrin slowly pour the oil from the flask into the skin, through the funnel.
