I can adjust the adventure slightly to be run for 2nd-4th level characters easily by tampering with the foe´s numbers and stats. Lower than that and some encounters could be too much difficult, while characters of 5 level and beyond will probably have spells that could solve problems by themselves, or fight so well that enemies designed for them would probably wipe the floor with the newbies, making the combat a coin toss to see who dies before. However, 1st level characters can join if the player don´t mind his character not being under the spotlight as much as the player with more experienced characters (or wants to level up fast and doesn´t care too much about the risks!)

Glad you said that, Draig is first level, but I don't mind throwing him onto a relatively tough adventure.

"Octavio is returned," announces the swashbuckler as he returns to the Inn. Octavio makes himself at home in a booth while asking Joe, "How about some dinner? Nothing too heavy, I have a race in the morning. Some fish, I think, with some white wine." While he waits he pulls out a banjo and starts playing around with various little tunes.

Adventure Hook!

Not long after Octavio had started to strum his banjo, an elf dressed in a pale blue cloak that gaped to reveal a shiny chain shirt entered and waved to one of the barmaids. As she approached, he gave her a warm and friendly hug, the nearby patrons observing that he carried an oversized walking staff in his left hand. The barmaid smiled and welcomed him back to the Red Dragon, then led him by the hand to the center of the bar. Pointing to him, she called, "The funny-eyed elf is baaaack!", and the taven roared with laughter. Handshakes followed as he approaced Joe at the bar.

As the barmaid drew attention to it, many of those who had never seen him noticed his unusual eyes. The pupils were black and the irises green, but the rest of his orbs had a decidedly gilded tint, almost as if they were made of metal instead of flesh. Some of the customers did a double take, expecting him to start feeling his way around as would one of the blind. But the odd-looking elf looked around and focused on things as well as any of them, and they shrugged it off. The sharper-eyed patrons noticed that he had not one, but two bows slung over his right shoulder. The one closest to his hand was a fine yew speciment, but the one behind it drew gasps from the knowing: A magnificent weapon, carved from a dark, chocolate-colored wood. Was that really darkwood? Was his second bow enchanted? This was an adventurer who'd been around a bit.

The elf shook hands with Joe, and they clasped all four hands together in friendship. The elf was heard to thank the man for something, something to do with treasure and money and safekeeping. He then slipped the lesser bow off his shoulder, and handed it to the man. "Joe, I've heard that you hold things that adventurers would like to sell. Would you be so kind as to take this for sale? I'm looking for..." (and he leaned forward to whisper in the man's ear). Joe nodded, replying "That will be fine", and handed the bow to an assistant, who opened a trap door in the floor behind the bar, and descended down a ladder with the bow.

"There is one more thing", continued the elf somewhat uneasily. Again he whispered to Mr. Smith, who replied, "Oh, no, there's no charge for that. You go right on ahead, just like you usually do." This appeared to greatly please the elf, who turned to face denizens of Joe's establishment.

"Greetings, one and all!", he called out. "I am callled Oirhandir, and I travel by land and by sea. I am handy in many things. I know the way of a ship, the way of a bow, I can cast some meager spells, and can play some gentle music on my chimes. I wish to travel near or far, to go where I have never been." He paused for a moment, apparently about to embark on departure from the usual routine. "Like many of you, I usually come here to seek my fortune in the employment of some worthy cause. However, I would like to announce that I'm travelling to the vicinity of the city of Rheim, and that I seek companions for the journey. I offer no coin for the endeavor, save a fair share of whatever falls into our laps. I plan on spending a week near Rheim visiting my lady love, and then returning here to Orussus when that is concluded. What say you? Have any of you the love for the open road, adventure, and the city of Rheim?"[sblock=What you want to know: ]This is an adventure for 4-6 characters of 2nd level and above, one of those characters being Oirhandir. 1st level characters can tag along, but this really isn't aimed at them. Oirhandir will be a PC in this adventure, earning XP. The DM will be Bront. Yes, he has submitted this and gotten it approved, a character-driven adventure. The plan is, as Oirhandir described, a run down to Rheim, a week of checking out the big city while the elf pitches woo, and a run back to Orussus. What will actually happen is known only to Bront and the adventure judges. If you're interested, respond in-character in the tavern thread.

Road Trip! [/sblock]

OOC: And how "According to Plan" did things go the last time? ;) Muhahaha :]

OOC2: I'm generaly open to most players. We'll see what we get, Oirhandir is probably going to be more involved in selecting than I am. However, the adventure is aimed towards non-evil PCs, so you may wish to keep that in mind :)

Kali had watched the elf with some curiosity as he had entered.

Such strange eyes she thought.

When he spoke though, it was as if he spoke diretly to her.

Adventure! Yes that was the promise.

A young woman dressed in very functional clothing, her hair tied back neatly, speaks up from the end of the bar.

" I would join you Oirhandir, if you would have me as company. I too long for the road and adventure." she says as she walks up to the elf. "I am Kali"

OOC:[sblock] She is first level, but nothing seems to be brewing for a newbie, and I am looking to cut my teeth. Feel free to say no, or wait until you see who else pops out of the woodwork. Bront can vouch (or not ;) ) for me [/sblock]

ooc: I have a 3rd level character (a psion (shaper)) in an adventure about to finish; by "about" I mean the big bad evil guy is in his last leg. Could you maybe wait a week (real time) for him, if so much?

OoC: Let's see who turns up and when. Counting your character, so far I've got 2. I originally told Bront my character needed 1 2nd level or higher, or 2 1st levels. He told me 3-5 2nd levels. So, let's just see who shows up and throws their hat in the ring.

Octavio Amontillado

"Ah, Oirhandir, that sounds splendid, absolutely splendid! I would take you up on your offer in an instant...excepting that I have already committed myself to this tournament of di Senzio's. With my reputation and, largely, my finances at stake, I must remain here and see what Grendath holds for me. Perhaps another day, we will meet again and travel the same road together."

Oirhandir spied the instrument that the man had beside his table, and nodded approvingly. "Indeed, that would be most fitting", he replied. The elf also gave a friendly wave to the stranger exiting the tavern.

Turning to the young woman, he smiled. "Well met, Kali. You wish to travel to Rheim? It is perhaps two weeks each way. A long walk...do you have a mount? I've one, but do not wish to burden him overmuch."
