Well now I know what was going on in this thread!
Some background for the uninitiated...
I participated in a Secret Santa thing at Circvs Maximvs this year, and while everyone else was getting cryptic hints about who their secret gift-giver was, I seemed to be getting no hints.
Meanwhile, I see the above-mentioned thread starting at EN World and figure, "Ok, Rel's trying to arrange some kind of fun EN World thingy for me."
Duh. I did not put two and two together.
What can I say, Rel's devious! Helps make him a good moderator!
So in my mail today I found this package addressed to "Hot Italian Beef." No wonder the mail lady gave me a funny look.
Inside I found...
* a delightful letter from Rel explaining the whole thing (though I will now take up smoking just in case I have you as a secret santa again -- I do want to see your pottery ashtray! Or is "pottery ashtray" some kind of slang I really don't want to know about??)
* a copy of T1: The Village of Hommlet -- sweet, I'm playing in RttToEE right now!
* a bound booklet of people's musings on what EN World means to them -- so many very thoughtful, kind and funny comments from a whole cast of characters, from those I remember from the earliest days of the site to newer posters I look forward to knowing better. This is bound inside the cover/map for T1 btw, very cool!
* a 3.0 first printing PHB (the one with the year 2000 survival kit appendix in the back), signed by a bunch of CM/ENW folk in appropriately silly style.
* and a group photo from a visit to Medieval Times with a bunch of very familiar faces in the crowd!
Rel/Scott and everyone who participated -- you rock -- thank you so much for these extra-special gifts. EN World is a very special place to me and I truly appreciate you all being here.
