Beyond Saturn's Rings - True20 - Friday, 8am - 12pm (Full)

WhimsyTheFae

Explorer
This game is full, unless someone drops out.

In the year 2030, the crew of the Orion II are undertaking the first manned mission to the edge of the Solar System. This was to be the greatest test of the new propulsion system that would allow humans to explore beyond the system. Unfortunately, catastrophe strikes, hurtling the shuttle and its crew into Saturn and certain death...or not. Face off against strange aliens, stranger technology, an exotic princess and a scheming warlord in this planetary romance.

NOTE: I am not an expert in the military or NASA, nor have I had real-life experience with either. If you see an error in any of the details, please feel free to point it out. Hopefully, the information will only serve as background and to establish the crew's chain of command.

The Crew

Captain Morgan (Expert 6) - Mission Commander
Captain Hank Morgan dreamed of being an astronaut since he was a small child. He enlisted in the Navy with the primary goal of eventually becoming a space shuttle pilot. CAPT Morgan's dedication was rewarded with an invitation to join the NASA space program. He has piloted five missions and commanded three. His cool demeaner and ability to retain control under pressure inspires his crew with confidence.

Tequila Rose (Expert 4/Warrior 2) - Pilot
Jose's older sister, Captain Tequila "Rose" Cuervo was one of the Air Force's finest pilots before being recruited into the space program. Capt. Rose's daring, and some say reckless, style helped her become NASA's top choice for the Orion II mission. Although there are those who say that she's dangerous and will cause the deaths of her fellow crew, those who have flown with her say that there is nobody they would rather fly with.

Jose Cuervo (Warrior 3/Expert 3) - Flight Engineer
Tequila's younger brother, 1st Lieutenant Jose Cuervo followed in his sister's footsteps by enlisting in the Air Force. There he excelled at aircraft mechanics and engineering. His sister lobbied for him to be brought into the space program, but his reputation as a brawler and a troublemaker caused him to be passed over many times. Eventually, his expertise and skill paid off and he was recruited by NASA. The Orion II mission will be only his second space mission.

Jim Beam (Adept 1/Expert 5) - Mission Specialist: Communications
Fluent in a six different languages, as well as an expert in telecommunications technology, Lieutenant Commander Jim Beam worked as an interpretor for the Navy, before joining the NSA as a communications expert. LCDR Beam spent two years with the NSA before becaming interested in the advancing space program and applied with NASA. Beam is very analytical and thorough, which has impressed his superiors and helped him get on the Orion II mission. He also has an uncanny ability to sense the emotions of those around him and discern truth from lie.

Dr. McGillicuddy (Expert 6) - Mission Specialist: Science
Doctor William McGillicuddy is one of the world's top researchers in the field of space physiology and medicine. He is also a knowledgeable astronomer with much experience studying meteorites and other space debris. An employee of NASA for the last ten years, Dr. McGillicuddy has only recently become an astronaut. He has served as mission specialist on two missions, in which his expertise in both fields have been critical to their success.

Jack Daniels (Warrior 2/Expert 4) - Payload Specialist: Nuclear photonic rocket
Mr. Jack Daniels is the odd man on this mission. A self-proclaimed redneck, Mr. Daniels' path to NASA has been a strange one. Jack worked his way from mechanic to NASCAR pit crew to rocket-car specialist. His work on rocket cars is what got him interested in groundbreaking methods of propulsion. A self-taught genius, Jack developed the first working nuclear photonic rocket, which NASA reluctantly agree to help him build and test. His only requirements were that he be involved in every stage of the development and that he be along with the engine for the first manned flight. Jack is a fun-loving, whiskey-drinking, need-for-speed man with gregarious personality and a mean right hook.

NOTE: I decided that having the crew all be Experts makes more sense, since levels of Warrior did little-to-nothing to improve the characters. After playtesting and tweaking, I decided that a couple of the characters should use the other classes. If nothing else, it gives me a chance to highlight them a bit.

Well, that's what I call service! Go ahead and pencil me in.

Our games our directly back-to-back... but perhaps we can just inherit the table. I think Hobo will be there too.

I can't speak for Hobo, since he is a tentative in GG's game listed on CM. It's up to him which one he is going to get into. Both games (GG's and mine) look to have plenty of interest, so I don't think either GM will be left wanting...

I also had some votes come in earlier today, so I'll list those people as having first crack at a spot (including Hobo).

Damn. Sadly I've got a noon game on friday.
Well, if this timeslot doesn't work, but Thursday 9-1 does, let me know. If I get six people, I'll run it twice (this goes for everyone). :)

Hobo already had to decline, as he is scheduled for Thursday and Friday from 9-1...

Thanks, but nope. Thursday is pretty much full for me. Friday I'm good before noon and Saturday I'm free between 2 and 7. Sunday I'm free except for this picnic.

Well, I'll keep the option of 8-noon in mind and if Psion (and any other players) are okay, we can get you in at that time. It's pushing it as far as early start-times go, but I may be able to accomodate you.

For now, I'll leave you off the list and see what others have to say. If I get enough that prefer 9-1, I'll just run it as is.
