Pimp your favorite *NEW* story hour

BLACKDIRGE

Adventurer
Hi all,

I'm starting this thread to draw attention to some of the great, new story hours that have sprung up in the last year or so. This thread works in the same manner as all of the other "pimp" threads, with a few exceptions. Here are the rules:

1. You cannot pimp your own story hour.
2. You cannot pimp a story hour that has more than 10,000 views (Fan boys of Sep, PC, Wulf, Destan, Sagiro, and even me need not apply :)).
3. If you have never posted a comment in the story hour you pimped, you must immediately do so. Even if it's a simple, "great job!" Trust me, it will mean a lot to the author.

That's it, pimp away.

Okay, since I started this thread, I'll throw out the first pimp.

I reccomend Ghostknight's Rule of Darkness. It's well written, and if you like fiends, you can't go wrong with this one.

I've commented in the thread numerous times. ;)

Is it cheating to pimp old, yet < 10,000-view story hours? I'll risk Blackdirge's wrath with the following recommendations.

barsoomcore's Barsoom story -- very well written. You won't know what the hell is going on half the time, but you won't be able to stop reading despite that.

followed by... Barsoom Tales II: Romance, Revolution and BLOODY REVENGE!!!

Capellan's In Hextor's Name -- to paraphrase the author, the story hour is "written from the limited and very, very biased point of view of Kull Redfist, LN Half-Orc Cleric of Hextor, Life's ambition: to become a mighty warrior and crush Hextor's enemies."

Rel's Faded Glory -- proving that pitting the PCs against challenges 4+ ELs above their level makes for a great game. The story takes place in Old One's campaign setting, which is modeled on ancient Rome.
Collectively I'm sure the Faded Glory threads have well over 10,000 views, but this particular thread doesn't, so nyah nyah nyah!

and finally...

Rune's Oriental Adventures in the Dream -- the most mind-blowingly original campaign setting I have ever seen... "The world: Ah yes, the world... It is flat, but not really. There is no sun; there are no stars, nor moons. Day and night do exist, however. There is seasonal change (how could we have haiku without it?), but that change is sporadic." incomplete; abandoned

This is a very nice thing you're doing. Kudos.

I haven't read any story hours other than the "big" ones--and not all of them, either. I'll check out the story hours recommended in this thread. Thanks!

Thanks. That's the whole point of this thing: to get new readers for underrated and new story hours.

These are fine. New can also mean underrated. ;)

Where was this thread a week ago? ;)

I think the recent bumped thread last week comparing posts to reads is also a pretty good metric for seeing what people like, including lots that are never mentioned in posts.

I am going to recommend Arabesu's Lost: Savage Tide Style

It has not been updated in a while, and only has two updates, but I plan to post to it as soon as I am done here and let the author know I am eager for another update.

Sure it seems like Savage Tide story hours are a dime a dozen these days, but this one promises to be a cool twist on it, including flashbacks, Lost-style!
