101 City Spice Ups/Hooks/Ideas

Hi all
not sure if this has been done before sorry if it has if someone has a link ill just add this on the end!

Anyway was thinking of on the spot ideas to use for my characters when they are in city areas. Everything from a 2min thing to check out to ideas for larger plots and how they might be noticed in the city (Rumours, strange events) etc. Anyway heres what ive got so far of my list, your all welcoem to use or add to it if youd like :)

1. A local is kidnapped in front of your eyes into a carriage which then speeds off (got that one from here :p)
2. A poor beggar has quickly become a charismatic prophet to the underclasses
3. Strange foreigners with an unknown accent begin appearing in the city
4. A sickness spreads quickly through the poorer areas of the town
5. The town governor is suddenly raising taxes and staying away from the public eye, which is very unusual
6. Bodies are turning up in the mornings which people are attributing to the local theives guild
7. The city gates have been closed and martial law imposed by decree of the local ruler
8. The city is under attack! Players are caught in the middle
9. Beggars in the city are disappearing unusually (Vampires/Mages/Alchemists/Government responsible?)
10. The trade guild have suddenly started challenging the power of the local government but how they fcan do this no one knows
11. Seige of the city, players have to survive/get out
12. Strange occurances at night --> ghosts and stuff
13. A shop was fired to the ground last night
14. You notice two people at a food stall switch satchels and walk off in different directions rather dodgily
15. All the spellcasters in the town have suddenly stopped at their usual jobs/services and magic related shops are closed (magic emergency, martial service or something more sinister)
16. Weapons and armour and other metal objects are suddenly degrading very easily across the town
17. Rumours of werewolves and scary howling at night
18. lightening storms become more frequent around the city, and sometimes people are hit and disappear without a trace (dead or transported somewhere?)
19. Crops start to whither, there is fear in the city of a famine in the surrounding area
20. All the rats in the city suddenly die
21. Rats in the city suddenly start multiplying vigourously
22. Bars are deserted, people afraid to come outside, wild west style gang are too strong for the police to control and are raiding the town, forcing the bartender to stay and serve them at the bar whnever they wish.
23.strange preists and members of a strange sect appear in the city and are mutipling each day
24. peopel are confused and as they wake up, finding streets and buildings in the city moving around somehow. Fear falls upon the city (got this one from wheel of time)
25. a strange cloud formation drifts over the city causing strange affects
26. people start having long blanks in their memory and strange marks on their bodies, which cant be exlained (alien obduction/mindflayers? thanks to Piratecat for this one :p)
27. There are rumours that the king has died, but the city remains quiet until martial law is imposed
28. You see a man murdered/assaulted in an alley and the perpetrators run off
29. Something strange is happening around a common tourist/pilgrimage site in the town

66. The market is being inundated by game animals from hunters that are bringing in 10 times as much as normal. Where are these animals coming from? Are the hunters changing the populace via baleful polymorph? Does something sinister lurk in the woods, driving the natural life out? Or is something far more sinister afoot?
