2 new spells per level?

just a simple question, I think i'm just not reading it right. Many Prestige Classes give an additional level as a caster or more than one, as in true necromancer. Wizards get 2 new spells to add to their spellbook every level, do casters that gain a wizard caster level from a Prestige class?

Yes. Just like a Sorcerer gets "spells known" as well as "spells per day".

Some of us have yanked that particular rule, but yea that's how it works

Wizards get +1 caster level, +1 effective level to figure out spells per day and the 2 free spells to write into their spellbook.

Sorcerers get +1 caster level, +1 effective level to figure out spells known and spells per day, and retain the ability to swap out a low-level spell for another every other level.
