Nothing good is made without blood, sweat, and gears.

Prerequisites: “Lay on Hands”, Proficiency with a Heavy Shield, Lawful Good.

Your order has dedicated itself to the construction and maintenance of machines that aid mankind. It is the belief of your order that the precision and resilience of machines is a reflection of the divine. You also use your skills to demolish or disable diabolic devices and infernal engines that threaten life and liberty. Your skills are in high demand in mechanized warfare and you are highly regarded by your fellow technocrats. This paragon class is taken by paladins with an affinity for machines.

Gear Knight Path Features

Ordained Mechanic (11th Level): You can use your “lay on hands” ability to repair vehicles and machines rather than creatures. You may expend a healing surge with a bonus equal to your CHA modifier to heal a vehicle or mechanical object. You can not repair a device reduced to 0 hit points, since it is totally destroyed at that point.

Man Versus Machine (11th Level): You can use your divine power to destroy or repair machines. When you are adjacent to any creature that you have marked with your "divine challenge" ability, it provokes an opportunity attack from you if it makes an attack that does not include you. Furthermore, your damage rolls against a construct or any mechanized vehicle that you challenge deals an extra 2d6 thundering damage.

Steam Cannon Shield Proficiency (11th Level): You are proficient with the Steam Cannon Shield.

Shield Wall (16th Level): You can provide the AC bonus and any additional benefits of your shield to any adjacent ally if a foe you have “marked” attacks an ally adjacent to you.

Your divine patron consecrates you with a burst of sacred steam which steels you to your purpose.

Effect: If you become “bloodied” during an encounter you may release a burst of divine steam. You may make a CHA vs. Fortitude roll to inflict your CHA modifier as fire damage to all adjacent enemies and grant yourself partial concealment until the start of your next turn. Additionally, you are immune to “fear” effects for the rest of the encounter.

You achieve a devastating blow which is even more damaging to mechanical enemies.

Special: If the target is a construct or mechanized vehicle you gain a +2 attack roll bonus and inflict an additional +2d10 thundering damage.


NEW SKILL USE

Mechanical Insight: You can use your “Insight” skill to figure out how to operate an unknown machine (i.e. electrical, steam, or clockwork device) and repair one which has broken down. “Thievery” is still used to disable mechanical traps or sabotage machinery.


NEW SUPERIOR WEAPON

Steam Cannon Shield: This massive steel shield has a shallow single shot cannon imbedded in the center of it. The cannon has minimal range and can not be reloaded during combat. This weapon relies on the strength of the user to aim this short barrelled artillery piece properly (STR based ranged attack). Only characters with a STR of 15 or higher can retain “heavy shield proficiency” when bearing a steam cannon shield. The steam cannon shield can either be enchanted as a ranged weapon or a defensive shield (not both).

Grease Monkey
Grime is the badge of hard work, wear it proudly.

Prerequisites: “Repair Object” rote, Sneak Attack ability.

You are a mechanical genius that delights in climbing through enormous engines and clockwork devices. You use the coating of oil you acquire through engine maintenance to your advantage during combat. This paragon class is taken by artificer/rogues with high DEX and INT scores.

Grease Monkey Path Features

Lubricated Action (11th Level): You move with a easy grace and fluid efficiency. When you spend an action point to take an extra action, you also gain a move action.

Handy Hitchhiker (11th Level): You have an easy time working on the outside and inside of massive machines. You find hand and foot holds invisible to ordinary men. You can add you INT modifier to any Athletics or Acrobatics skill checks made on the exterior or interior of any vehicle or massive mechanical machine and you do not provide your enemies with combat advantage while climbing it.

Monkey Wrench Proficiency (11th Level): You are proficient with the superior weapon "Monkey Wrench".

Body Oils (16th Level): The oily residue covering your body and armor allows you to move easily through tight spaces. You do not grant your opponents combat advantage when you "squeeze" through a small space. Additionally, you can add your INT modifier as a class bonus to any skill check made to escape a "grab" or metal restraints.

Grease Monkey Spells

You throw a ball of grime at the target and gum up the internal mechanisms of a construct or vehicle slowing its movement.

You can reset a trap you have successful disable to attack your enemies.

Secondary Damage: 3d6 + INT modifier acid damage and is “restrained” rather than “immobilized”.


NEW SUPERIOR WEAPON

Monkey Wrench: This massive adjustable tool is made of solid metal and is just as effective a weapon as it is for loosening pipes or tightening bolts. With “Superior Weapon Proficiency” you gain a +2 equipment bonus on skill rolls to disable, build, and repair machines.
