D&D 4E 4E fonts?

Dykstrav

Adventurer
Howdy folks... I'd like to know if someone has or knows of where I can get the fonts used in the 4E books (including all the little symbols used in monster stat blocks). It's a bit retentive, yes. But I'd love for my personal material and notes to have the same layout/look of the 4E books. Thanks!

The Two major fonts (D&DVecna and D&DLolth) are currently in-house only. Don't worry though, as the 3e Dungeon font was cloned (as adventurer, look it up) I bet these two will be cloned eventually...

Chris Perkins (I think) mentioned in one of his blog posts that they are considering publishing some of the fonts they had commisioned for 4e on the DDI in the future.

When that future is, and if it will actually come to be... I dunno.

Here's hoping it does, and is soon though! :D

These obviously aren't exact, but they are as close as I could find [at dafont, which are free] - and with a little playing around you could get them closer...

Main

http://www.dafont.com/lymphatic.font?text=PLAYER'S+HANDBOOK

http://www.dafont.com/carolus-roman.font?text=PLAYER'S+HANDBOOK

Secondary

http://www.dafont.com/ogirema.font?text=Arcane,+Divine,+and+Martial+Heroes

http://www.dafont.com/communist.font?text=Arcane,+Divine,+and+Martial+Heroes

http://www.dafont.com/wendelin.font?text=Arcane,+Divine,+and+Martial+Heroes

And yea, as has been said - it won't be long before replicas of those fonts are up.

What you're looking for are the typefaces. Font = typeface + size. Times New Roman 10 is a different font from Times New Roman 16, for instance.

But as pointed out earlier, I believe that they are in-house fonts. Normally I am not a fan of serifed typefaces in manuals (sans serif typefaces tend to look more professional IMHO), but the D&D design team has done well.

Except for the rassumfrassum Forgotten Realms materials. I admit to knowing nothing whatsoever about FR because that typeface is utterly unreadable. Argh.

In college and everywhere else I've ever done layout or dealt with this, we call them fonts. I never heard of anyone refer to them as typefaces, and I've been doing layout and design work for 10+ years.

Anyway, back to the OP question, I have a list of the fonts at home. I'll post them when I get home from work. Two of the fonts they use are inhouse ones only. The header font they use a lot in the Core Books is Ravenna. You can buy it here: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/scriptorium/ravenna/ravenna/
