5e did something cool that I never really considered before, a divine-influenced Barbarian, which is actually pretty neat. In thinking on this, I now kind of wish that 4e had done a little more of this sort of thing, and a lot less of the "multiple roles in one class" thing. That is, the Ranger is mostly Martial, but definitely has some Primal flair. The Barbarian is mostly Primal with some Martial, but you can re-interpret it in Divine or even Arcane terms (Shadow is a bit of a hard sell, but who knows?)
