A little inspiration from National Geographic

About once a month I browse through the National Geographic website to see the beautiful photographs they host there. In particular, the Photo of the Day series is a great source of interesting images. It's a bit humbling to realize there are sights on our own earth far more mystical and fantastic than anything in a roleplaying game.

Today happens to be a bit of a mediocre one, actually, but consider these ones:

Another great aspect about these photos is that each one includes a brief comment, often a quote from whatever issue the picture was originally published in. Some of the older ones are quite intriguing.

Also, y'know, some people who might be working on a Ceramic DM competition might be interested in checking this site out.

Oh I love NG pictures. I like to grab them and print out small wallet sized pictures as hand outs for the players.

I've once used the layout for an aztec pyramid and surrounding structure for the layout of ancient ruins.

Don't believe the players ever knew.....
