A mechanism for stacking bonuses?

I was looking through the SRD and noted that those bonuses which stack typically cost double those which don't. An example is Natural Armour vs normal armour.

So why not regularise it? Simply have a quality, we'll call it Resonating, which doubles the cost, which allows items with this quality to stack with each other?

Example:

- a character has two Rings of Protection +2. Neither has the Resonating quality. His bonus is +2.

- the same character has two Rings of Protection +2. One has the Resonating quality. His bonus is +2.

- the same character has two Rings of Protection +2. Both have the Resonating quality. His bonus is +4.

Exceeding 200K GP would still make the item Epic, of course.

Bad idea this would get broken so fast when u have the wizard at lvl 10 with an int running in the 100's
You're still limited to a maximum of +5.

Edit: Belay that - you're quite right.

You could build in some restrictions.

Define "resonance" as: will stack with ONE other modifier for the same statistic. May only be placed on items that have a "slot" restriction.
