A Modest (Convention) Proposal

Ron Edwards over at Indie-RPGs. He made an observation regarding dissatisfied players, and it occurred to me that a lot of dissatisfaction can be laid to unprepared judges.

PC, I'm all for volunteers. But, in the case of judged events I'm asking for people who are dedicated enough to take the time and trouble necessary to do it right. That means making a few sacrifices for the sake of the event, then you make the sacrifices. If this results in a few not volunteering to run a game, good. People who aren't willing to make the sacrifices necessary for the running of a good game at a convention really shouldn't volunteer.

I would like to think the best of everybody I meet, but hard experience has shown me such a stance is not viable. In the case of convention games it is far better to have people who have proven themselves, than folks you've never met before.
