A new beginning.

Aerlyn

First Post
Aerlyn realizes that Aervir is right and they are only wasting time by discussing how they will split the treasure.
"Perhaps we should just put a bit of the treasure into each of our packs and then we'll discuss how to evenly split it later. There may also still be treasure in the other towers and we need to stop the priest before he gets too far away."
Aerlyn then begins placing the book, some coins and the small case into her bag. After strapping up her bag and throwing it over her shoulder she joins Aervir.

“You are right Aerlyn.” Said Caedren. “To long have we delayed at this place. Lets us depart in search of the black priest.”

Dropping some of the coins he was given into a pouch at his belt and the rest into his backpack, Caedren turns toward the door.

The early morning sunlight spilling into the courtyard was easy to adjust to. Turning towards the chapel door he just came out of

Caedren waits for the rest of the party to follow.

Moving into the bright morning sunshine alongside Caedren, Aervir moves towards the most northeastern tower. The rest of the group follows, with Aerlyn in the rear. Despite the cheerful chatter of morning birds, and the warm spring air, the four companions move carefully and silently. The door stands closed. Aervir, as he is in the lead, quietly points to a few drops of blood spattered on the door frame. It appears the priest may be inside

The four loosen all weapons. Caedren loosens his sword in its sheath, then nocks an arrow and steps back, ready to go on...

(Anything anyone wants to do before we go in?)

Forward...

Caedren noticing everyone's eagerness to move on, motions to Aervir to move into the tower.

(OOC- I'm good, I don't think I need to do anything before we go in.)

Aervir opens the door, and the group spreads out, their eyes adjusting to the gloom slowly. As Dravis and Aervir still fumble about, blinded, Aerlyn and Caedren's eyes are quickly scanning the room. The ground floor of the tower is covered in a deep pile of splintered and smashed wood. Though slightly dusty, the wood seems to be placed here quite recently. (Spot Check - Aerlyn 23, Caedren 4) Aerlyn looks up as Fallon suddenly nips at her ear. She sees a fat-bodied spider, as long as two of Dravis's muscular forearms, sitting motionless on a long thread of spider silk. For one second, it's alien eyes regard her, the eight orbs seeming to hold a reflection of her motionless. She cries a warning, as the spider scuttles up the wall and away through a hole in the ceiling. Aervir is immediately up beside her, his breath hot on her neck as he hisses out held lungful of air, drawing his great two-hander.

Seeing the spider crawling up the wall and back to where ever it's lair was, sent chills down Caedrens neck.

"Spiders, why did it have to be spiders." He muttered silently under his breath.

He scanned the the inside of the tower once more for more creatures hiding in dark corners. When he saw none, he placed the nocked arrow back in his quiver, and slung his bow across his back.

"This should do much better in such close quarters." He said, freeing his sword from its sheath.

Aerlyn keeps a cool exterior even though she wishes nothing more than to run away from the giant spider. She has never liked spiders and wants to be through with this as quickly as possible.
Preparing her magic missile, she takes a step behind Aervir and Caedren for comfort more than protection.

(Initiative - Spider(s?) 20, Aerlyn 18, Aervir 3, CYTaedren 3, Dravis 6.)

Aerlyn stands behind the others, her spear clutched tightly in her hand. The silence becomes almost oppressive. (Listen Check Aerlyn 18, Aervir 7, Caedren 6, Dravis 10). Fallon shifts restlessly on her shoulder. A sudden weight crashes onto Aerlyn's slight shoulder, and she feels a sudden numbness in her upper arm. She spins round to see the fat abdomen of a huge spider pressed against her, the bristling black hairs pressing indents into her arm's skin. It's two forelegs, and the mandibles of its' jaw, both are still stuck against her flesh (Attack roll 17, damage 4 hp). The forelegs begin to flail wildly, and she feels a horrible faintness begin to overcome her (Fort save 20). Gathering herself, she shrugs off the initial shock of the venom, and steps back from the spider, which remains hanging from a long thread of web. It's alien mouth comes up again, as it fixes Aerlyn with eleven beady eyes, and its maw opens in a silent scream - the palipers and fangs gnashing in a horrible battle cry.
