A Rather Odd Shovel [Judge: Bront]

Fimble gesticulates dramatically. With cracking and grinding sounds and the merest rush of chilly air, a great smooth gleaming wall of ice appears, cutting the room in two about fifteen feet behind the wizards.[sblock=OOC]Fimble acts before Tommy (init 12 vs 4). We're in the surprise round, so Tommy has only a standard action available and cannot both draw and use his wand.

Ice sheet placed along the J/K line right across the room, floor to ceiling, blocking off access to the spiral staircase and to the front door.[sblock=Spellcraft DC 18 or DM]Major Image[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sorry, don't know how I screwed that up. I got the initiative right for round 1...

Anyway, covaithe, please adjust Tommy's action to fit the surprise round limitations.[/sblock]

Waiting on covaithe.

Tommy's hands twitch towards his wand, but he thinks better of it and tries to cast a more powerful spell while Turket is surprised. Unfortunately, his aim is less than ideal, and the blast of flame passes well over Turket's head.

ooc: scorching ray, then. ranged touch attack hits touch AC 6 for 16 damage. Oops.

Keldar sweeps out his blades, involuntarily ducking the blast of flame. Sacrificing power for precision, he pricks Turkey in the gizzard with the tip of his rapier, and steps alongside him.

OOC: 1d20+8=23, 1d6+3+1d6=7 (lethal, piercing and magic this time). Step to P3, to set up a flank.

"Maybe you should think about surrendering," says Keldar, with his eye on Tarag.

Fimble scurries to the corner of the room to hem Turket in, pulling out his little silver dagger, which he waves menacingly. "Sharp and shiny!" he announces.[sblock=OOC]That just plain isn't right, 'Nock. Fimble to P1, drawing dagger, and using standard to maintain concentration. His AC, incidentally, is currently 14; but there's mage armor up on Tarag.[/sblock]

Turket, now completely surrounded with the barred cellar door behind him, recovers from his stunned expression. He shakes his head, his long hair held in a neat pony tail by a fine silk ribbon. Adopting a defensive stance, he grins wickedly. "I heard you had escaped. I hadn't thought you would return!"

He nimbly leaps between Tarag and Keldar, pulling from his boot an elegantly crafted dagger with his right hand. When he lands, you see that in his other hand he now holds a rope, wielded like a whip. You didn't spot him pulling it from anywhere, it must have come from his sleeve.

From his new position, between Fimble, Tarag, and Tommy, he tosses his rope at Tommy and hisses something in infernal: "
Coil and knot
."

[sblock=OOC]Ranged touch on Tommy: 33. Tommy needs to make a DC 16 reflex save or become entangled

Turket: 5' step to O1 (free), draws dagger and rope (move), and entangles Tommy (standard)[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I don't see how Turket can have enough actions to do everything he did, except under some very specific circumstances. He needs Quick Draw to be able to draw two objects as free actions, since his move action is used to command the rope. However, he needs a standard action to throw the rope, but also needs to use a standard action prior to cast Animate Rope, unless he somehow quickened the spell. Since he's not wielding a metamagic rod, that would be a 5th level spell. Eep.

Additionally, unless he cast quickened, he'd need to make a Concentration check to cast defensively, or incur potential AoOs from Tarag and Fimble.

Regardless, he would incur AoOs when making his ranged touch attack.

Is the save DC really 16? That's a +5 casting modifier.[/sblock]
