I would only allow acrobatics to count as disengage if it came with a cost or a risk. If the result of failing is identical (mechanically) to not having tried, then there’s no decision point.

Oh, and the answer to the question in this thread is the optional Tumble action on page 272 of the DMG. As an action or a bonus action, you can make a dexterity (acrobatics) check contested by an enemy’s dexterity (acrobatics) check and if you win the contest you can move through the enemy’s space. Doesn’t prevent opportunity attacks, but it’s 5e’s take on the same use of Acrobatics from 3.X
