what's the cost modifier for an adamantine shield in 3.5? they have everything listed in the table but shields
Hida Bukkorosu said:wow, that seems to be quite pricey since it's the same as light armor...
does the shield give damage reduction like the light armor does? otherwise it seems the only mechanical benefit to the shield is its hardness & hp vs someone trying to sunder it...
Trainz said:It's way better to make shields out of Mythral than Adamantine. There is no real benefit to make it out of adamantine (other than it will be more durable that is).
Adamantine --> Weapons
Mythral --> Armors and Shields
uzagi_akimbo said:Admantine shields have a secondary use, too - with "shield bashing" it may just be of some interest to know that an adamantine shield, especially if enchanted, can pierce severeal DRs (golems anyone) more easily than a wood/steel shield.
Hypersmurf said:And don't forget - shields are bludgeoning weapons, so they can be used to Sunder. An adamantine shield smashes a steel greatsword like a walnut, ignoring hardness less than 20...
Good for smashing through stone walls, too.
