Lady Mary looks up at Kartuus a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

"Aye. News arrived by raven. Uncomfortable news like a cold hand upon a warm back. And here I am playing escort because an island of fools can't play nice together when I should be helping my friends."

With one smooth fluid movement she moves Kaartus aside and shifts away into the crowd. She turns back a few steps later and flashes Kaartus a smile. "This seems to have become tangled in my fingers. You must have gotten too close." She tosses his pouch of recently given coins back to him.

As Kartuus sets to the task of shopping he is amazed at how quickly and easily he comes across everything he is looking for.

[sblock=A light brush with Lady Mary] Thievery 27 vs Kaartus' Passive Perception 9

Note: I have tried to register in invisible castle but I am still waiting on an activation code which has not arrived to my email account for some reason. So I registered here, another dice roller recommended by my PbP DM Mewness: RPG Die Roller
So you can add that to the list of acceptable virtual dice for the adventure.
[/sblock] [sblock=Kaartus' shopping] Kaartus finds everything he is looking for quickly and without fuss, causing the group no delay whatsoever. [/sblock]

Sabynha sniffed at the haughty blomde elf, and muttered a scornful word or two under her breath in the Vistani offshoot of Old Allarian, "Pfft. dilya minjha."

At that, she walked away from the group at a pace, off to see Nani quickly before they were to leave the isle. If this mission proved as dangerous as it was warned by the Count, perhaps she would not live to deliver the message otherwise. While there, she grabs some spare clothes, some for inclement weather, and stuffs it into a bindle. When done, she hurries back to their arranged meeting place, hoping not to be too late.

[sblock=ooc]If anyone happened to overhear the muttered curse, and understands Old Allarian and/or Vistani, it translates into something 'catty' and very insulting, covering both what Sabinha thinks of this elf's intellect (ironic though this probably is), and an insult to her womanhood. She wasn't intending it to be heard, however. If overheard and/or confronted about it, she will try to bluff it off with a feigned smile as 'nothing.'

As for the meeting with Nani, she relays the Count's message, though doesn't ask about it unless Nani volunteers any information, or if she thinks it wouldn't be too personal to ask (insight?). In any case, that was a good roll. She will try to suss out any undercurrent in Nani's reactions about what that Little Bird business is about. Afterward, she will tell Nani about their mission, and ask if she has any advice for her.[/sblock]

If Lady Mary heard Sabynha's insult she either doesn't understand it or doesn't let on. As the group begins to disperse in the market she calls back. "Meet you all at the harbour as soon as you're done here. Don't delay! Anyone can point you to the Dolphin!"

[sblock=Nani] Nani bursts into laughter when Sabynha shares the Count's message for Lady Tamora. "Nani thanks you Granddaughter for these tears of joy!" She wipes away a tear when the laughter subsides. "The Count certainly has a sense of humour. I hope Lady Tamora sees the funny side."

As she listens to Sabynha relate the tale of her mission she smiles and nods. "Your Nani knew some of this. That is why I chose you Granddaughter. You see, you are the portrait the Count speaks of."

She rubs her crystal ball. "The hate has gone too far. Evil can find a way in when you open yourself to hate. In my dreams I see the young lovers lost. And in danger."

Nani touches Sabynha gently on the arm. "Go granddaughter. End the hate. It brings a danger to the Isles at a time when enemies lurk close by looking for a way in."

Sanbynha can tell that she is concerned for her safety but that she trusts in her ability to handle herself. [/sblock]

Themes comes back with a mountain of rope, looped several times over each shoulder. His steps are slow and heavy, but he manages to get onto the ship safely.

"YOHOHO! This be a fine ship, me hearties! The Dolphin, aye? Fitting name, though I'd rather it be called somethin' a bit more...wild." Themes rambled.

He starts inspecting the ship and stores away the rope he had brought (can ne'er 'ave too much rope!)...

[sblock=OOC]Themes buys 50gp worth of hempen rope, which translates to 2500ft of rope and 500lb. Themes will carry 200ft worth if they ever leave and ill be happy to share with anyone.

And are there any cannons on the Dolphin? Themes will be very upset if there isn't...(if there aren't any on deck, he assumes their just being stored away down below)[/sblock]

Themes gives the Singing Dolphin a once over and is well impressed with the small well built craft. It is painted a sea blue that blends into a silver towards the bottom of the hull. The mast flies a flag bearing the emblem of Count Varis, a rampant red fox. Themes is not disappointed, finding two cannons aboard the Dolphin, towards each side of the bow. They are mounted in a way that allows them to be swivelled with some effort. As he inspects them a 'toc toc toc' alerts him to the approach of someone behind him.

As he turns around he is met in a hearty embrace by a bushy faced individual whose smile lacks both front teeth. "You must be the Lah'nun! Welcome aboard the Dolphin! I can see the twinkle in your eye ... you've already fallen in love haven't you, scallywag!" He roars into laughter, pulls out a bottle and pulls the cork with his teeth. After a few hearty swigs he offers it to Themes. "Ah, your presence is a blessing, Lah'nun. Probably a wee bit unnecessary for a quick ride to Elestial, what! But I'll not complain! I'll have something to tell me grandkids when I see them next!"

He slaps his wooden leg. "They call me Peg! You can call me what you like! What do you be calling yourself, Lah'nun?"

He curls a brotherly arm around Themes shoulders as if they were best of friends since always and offers to give him a proper look around the Dolphin, introducing him to the crew with pride as he takes him several times around the ship. By the time he is taking him the third time around, the bottle of rum is empty.

Lady Mary watches from the pier, arms folded, a look of bemusement on her face.

"Ahoy-hoy! A salty dog is always a welcome face! Themes started, a little unnerved. His usual growling and muttering faded and instead he spoke in a nice, honey-voiced manner. Glad to see we have a crew here, all nice and proper, I can see..."

Pirates are never welcome by the officials and these people are men who strongly believe in their "justice". They'd have him hang in a heartbeat. Since he's working under the employment of the Count himself, there's no point having to go around branding himself as a criminal, is there? Not when you have the papers...

As the rum finishes, Themes slowly ushers Peg to a corner..."Now, we Lah'nun are notorious fer bein' pirates. Good ones a' that. But there be no need tah arouse any suspi'shun 'mongst da crew now, is there? It'll be bad for morale, reflectin' badly on da Count and tha Cap'n, n'all that...Let's keep that between us, eh? If anybody asks, I just be a honest ta' goodness sea merchant who owes da Count a favor, aye, Peggy?"

[sblock=OOC]How old is Peg? How strong is he? What are my chances of having a successful mutiny here? (Hehe...serious question, but only out of curiosity) And from his manner, it's safe to assume that he is the captain?[/sblock]

The captain looks utterly confused by your suggestion that the crew knowing who and what you are would be bad for morale.

"Reflect bad on the Count! Bah! What on the high seas are you blathering about? Having trouble holding your rum? Or did the Count send a daft one?"

He shrugs you off and snatches back his bottle which he stows away. "Do ye think me crew don't know who you are Lah'nun? Sea merchant ... what do ye think them? Dumb and blind? Go and stuff yer head in a sack!"

[sblock=The Captain] Yes, he is definitely the Captain. Everyone on board knows you are a a Lah'nun. The Captain seems quite proud of the fact he has one on his boat. Or at least he did. That seems to no longer be the case. He now thinks you are an idiot. You are probably stronger than him, but he looks like he'd put up a decent fight. Besides it would be 1 (you) vs 30 odd sailors.

Chance of a mutiny? My question is: To what end? Seriously?

He is obviously well liked by the entire crew. Your chances of turning this adventure into your own story of mutiny and sailing off into the sunset to rob merchants ... I dunno, what do YOU reckon? [/sblock]

Wat, knowing exactly what he's looking for, quickly purchases an armful of mystic salves. On his way back to the ship, he looks for something that Lady Mary would fancy.

[sblock=OOC]Wat purchases 40 gp of Mystic Salves.

Insight (1d20+6=23) to understand Mary well enough to find her a gift she will truly enjoy. Something small, probably not much more than 10 gp, 20 at most.[/sblock]

"Oh...is that so?" Themes said. He seems to stand a little taller. "Excuse me sudden paranoia, Cap'n. Never had me much of a good experience when people know about me bein' Lah'nun. Really hard to guess what da people's reactions be."

"Once, me tribe had a whole village tryin' get on our ship, wantin' ter join the crew. But most of the time we're greeted by cannon-fire and threats of dancing with hempen!"
he continued.

"But there are honest Lah'nun, those that don't embrace piracy. Offer ferry services to explorers and travelers, protection and such. And then there are those that decide to trade for exotic goods, have to cross dangerous seas to get to the good stuff, aye?"

"ARRR! What be me talking about, it's taboo to talk about them..."
Themes told himself. "Funny how that works..."
