As the vicious Bladeling catches sight of Haaku, he makes his move to attack! He leaps over the bow of the ship, one spiked arm cocked back and ready to pierce the desert warrior. However, Leather sees his opportunity to pounce and immediately moves in to strike! The Bladeling sails through the air, just above Leather's longsword, but a backhand swipe from Leather connects, causing the Bladeling to flinch. This flinch takes the form of several rows of spikes elongating enough to pierce Leather's hand, but only causes minor damage. Leather's sword pierces the Bladeling's spiked flesh and interrupts his attack against Haaku, and the Bladeling only barely manages to maneuver himself onto the piles of bodies lining the front of the dock to keep himself from falling into the water. With an aggravated shout, the Bladeling's body ripples with shortening and elongating spikes that threaten to skewer Haaku if he remains in close combat distance with the Bladeling.
While the Bladeling sails through the air, exchanging blows with Leather, the other ships empty their holds of the remaining Goliaths they have on board, which quickly take to the battle with howling charges. Fhangrim manages to evade one of the Goliath's spears, but another spear from the side proves painful as it slips through the Gnoll's defenses and pierces his side. Ilex and her pet, too, are causes serious harm as Goliath spears find their mark against them.
