Alchemy crafting

To Craft Alchemical items the rules say "You must be a spellcaster to craft any of these items." Does that mean you must have levels in a spellcasting class or does having Spell-Like Abilities count as well?

For example: could a Gnome Rogue get any use out of its Craft (Alchemy) racial bonus or would she have to be a Gnome Cleric/Wizard/Bard/etc.?

Unless you're a spellcaster you can't make any of the items listed with that distinction.

But note that all gnomes are spellcasters since they can cast a few spells as part of their racial abilities.

I think what the original poster is asking is whether Spell-Like Abilities qualify as spellcasting for this purpose. Are you a spellcaster if all you have is SLAs?

I would say that being able to use spell-like abilities isn't the same as being a spellcaster. According to the Monster Manual's glossary, spell-like abilities aren't spells.
