Death Otter crows in delighted laughter. "Wut WUT?! Nah, I know man. I had your guncams going, like, in my ear, while I was working in there. Now YOU...you look bad! Like, if crap ate crap, and had to crap...that's you! JeeZEUS."

"Now me? Ten bottles of EPIC in a bag that ONLY HOLDS FIVE BOTTLES. Did you know they have BLACK IC in here?! I was all buying time with a sprite, and I dialed up FUTBOL but...okay get this...the spider? He never showed!" she breaks into laughter. "Like, I had this giant-ass sprite all set to just ragdoll his physics, but he NEVER SHOWED. My quota of bricked decks is SHOT."

She grins. "So I left them a present."

"ANYWAY. We're gonna turn here in a second. And then start slowing down more."

Otter sent the rigger a message consisting of a route map with a station circled, with 'DESTINATION' written on it in childish crayon.

"Car there."

Herald dismisses her with a handwave. "Impossible," he says with a French accent that could easily be mistaken for native. "Je suis toujours beau."

"Damn it John." Yeah, Doc Sweet's annoyed. "How's he looking?"

Faust describes the extent of Lum's injuries and Doc Sweet talks him through first aid.

1 net success

Lum is healed 1 box of physical damage. First aid cannot be performed on Lum again. Lum is now at 8P physical damage with 2 empty boxes remaining. He is still at -3 to all actions. Still - better than nothing!

Lum's medkit is at 2/3 uses remaining until it needs to be restocked.[/sblock]
Lum's still in critical condition, but the proper application of pain drugs and sealing gel means he's not going to bleed to death in the car.

"Doesn't sound like he's out of the woods yet. I'm at the clinic all night. Bring him to the back door when you get here." Doc Sweet works at a discount medical center called Clin-X at Masters Mall in Bushwick, a Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn. Actual medical care in Doc Sweet's custody will take hours or days and will have to begin after the group's meet with Mr. Johnson - and that's going to cost. But at least with Sweet it'll be off the books and Faust can be sure none of the runners will wake up missing an organ. Well - pretty sure.

"What about you? Anyone else?" Faust can try to treat Herald with the medkit, too, as part of the same minor favor from Doc Sweet.

The car makes a turn. It's slowing like Death Otter predicted.

Faust will make the offer to Herald.

"Don't know if you have your own plans but my guy is on the line now and will walk me through stabalizing your injuries if you follow up with him. He won't sell your kidneys when you're under and he's damn good at patching holes."

"Voozet cooshon," retorts Death Otter amiably, with a terrible mispronunciation that is probably an imitation of a Matrix translation utility like TongueFish or something. She starts hunting around the train car for a manual emergency brake. Just in case.

"Yes, please," Herald replies. "I'll need to be at my best for this meeting with the Johnson. Speaking of which, we need a plan. Assuming the rest of you share my reluctance to wind up as loose ends, that is." He glances around at the others, expecting that all of them understand the gravity of the situation.

"I do have a plan," he says confidently. "The Johnson won't like it, and Big Mac Sexy will give us hell for it, but I think he has more to answer to from us than we from him, at this point. Don't you agree? I'll explain more when we get to the car."

Doc Sweet helps Faust patch Herald up as best he can. Faust delivers two antiseptic injections near the bullet wounds and plugs the holes with gel. Faust isn't misusing the materials and his efforts have likely prevented bleeding and infection, but Herald isn't actually feeling any better. He's going to have to fight through it.

Herald is not healed. He cannot receive first aid again.

Death Otter locates a plastic-encased button labeled EMERGENCY but thankfully she doesn't need it.

The car pulls up to the terminal and opens its doors. There's a crowd of curious wageslaves staring at the single car, most of its windows smashed, the interior riddled with bullet holes. There's a NYS Transit roto-drone buzzing through the crowd - probably not alerted to anything yet.

Beyond the crowd are stairs, then tunnels full of shops, entry turnstiles, and security booths. And somewhere nearby in those tunnels will be more steps leading up to the street. It's been about three minutes since the runners first fled the Pensodyne facility. They'd been on the train for less than a minute. There's a chance the security here isn't on alert at all but the runners should be careful. All it takes is one rent-a-cop calling in their position and the chase will start all over.

It's probably best for Lum not to have his nose buried in an RCC while he walks out - using New York's GridGuide he estimates the van will be at the group's anticipated exit point on the street in about two to three minutes. It'll take the runners a little less than that to walk out of here if they're not stopped.

You can provide me with the general strategy or manner you're adopting while making your way up to the street if you'd like.

Herald puts his head down and walks forward through the crowd. "Don't hesitate," he says to the rest of the Runners via comlink. He's got an eye on their...what was she, a captive? Or client? It bothers Herald that he doesn't know for sure. He knows she's the weak link in this operation, and the one most likely to panic and cause alarm. He grabs her by the elbow and steers her through the crowd of people, talking to her the entire way, to distract her.

"Head down, mon cherie. Don't look up. Don't make eye contact. Keep walking. You're doing well, my dear. A natural, I should say. Honestly, I am embarrassed to be receiving payment for escorting someone such as you. As if you even needed our help, ha! I feel almost as if I should be paying for the privilege of your company."

By the time the train stopped, Death Otter had turned her chameleon armor back on. It would take a sharp eye to spot the ripple in the air following a bit behind and to the side of Herald and his cargo. And while Otter was no wilderness scout, she knew a bit about how to move quietly on concrete.

Lum the Mad

Lum nods his thanks as Faust patches up his injury. He waits while Faust tends Herald then tucks the nearly depleted medkit back into his pack. As the train car pulls into the station Lum looks out at the crowd and shops and security and realizes he should've thought of some way to get the drone through. Or to stop the train car at a different point, one with less traffic.

"Shi... Gettin' EmOne outta here is gonna be all sorts of fun, don't you think?"
