Alternative Race Choices

So I am curious as to why the race selection only extends to the tengu and merfolk.

There are some very solid races on the pfsrd (specifically the Saurian race) that seem on par with the core race choices.

Is there a specific reason these are not allowed?

Tengu

+2 Dex
+2 Wis
-2 Con


Saurian
+2 Con
+2 Cha
-2 Int

Both have comparable racial features:

Is it only because of the 3rd party publishing? Seems like we could do a lot to expand the racial selections.

Well, between bestiary 1 & 2 there are quite a few choices listed beyond the core races. Aasimar, Changeling, Dhampir, Drow, Duergar, Fetchling, Gillman (Inner Sea Campaign Setting), Goblin, Gripphi, Hobgoblin, Ifrit, Kobold, Merfolk, Orc, Oread, Strix (ISCS), Svirfneblin, Slyph, Tengu, Teifling, Undine. And that's just Paizo.
