I think Firebeetle waited till GenCon so thise thread could go on with as little moderation as possible for as long as possible. ;)

Maybe, but at least it is still, overall, a civil discussion. While heated comments have been made, I think it is far and away from being a flamewar.

We'll see though.

Personally, I doubt there was that much forethought and planning on Firebeetle's side of things, at least I hope not.

I feel I should mention that what was being pointed out was that Paizo's store is also selling anime that is pretty blatant pronography and no one has said a thing about that.

I assume so, but the link showed as blank, so not sure. Still not sure it preaches anything in the actual description of the anime or whatnot though, so who knows. I don't care what Paizo carries, I was just commenting on the habit of attacking the opinion rather than stating their own.

"You want to boycott Paizo because of a doll that trivializes drug use? You're a hypocrite since it also trivializes violence and pornography!"

Not to be snarky, but will you be providing some insight to you opinons about this topic, or will you continue to quote and reply with single line comments that are unrelated to the thread?
The caffeine quip was an attempt at levity. I'll try harder next time. ;)

I would like to know your opinion, not just read brief, unrelated comments.
My comments are thematic; have you looked at them all and/or used the links? :)

I've always been curious how their electronic storefront works. How much human oversight is there in product selection -- does Company X's product line roll into the storefront automatically, without Paizo eyes on it, from some outside source? Do Paizo employees actually handle all of the merchandise themselves or are third parties filling the orders?

Actually, I could provide some insight into this. It is entirely possible that this item has rolled through with a minimum of activity on the part of Paizo staff.

My wife is a DBA that works for an online store. Once per cycle, which in my wife's case is 6x/week for her store, companies with product to sell send the information to her company. This is a list of thousands of products. The data files are quite huge. These are processed through a set of criteria in a program that has a format as to how the product is presented.(Photo goes *here*, Name goes *here*, Price goes *here*, &c.) Often my wife is unaware when a new product is added to a store's line.

People in marketing, who decide how the web pages look and decide which products are to be highlighted, have a better idea of what a particular store is selling. Even so, they don't necesarily have absolute knowledge of a given company's product line.

So, it is possible that the product is a surprise to the people at Paizo, or known only to marketing or the person who talks with the item's manufacturer.

Please STOP putting words in my mouth. I've already asked you this before.

That's NOT the argument I'm making and demonizing me because I'm ASKING why draw the line HERE, not THERE, is as bad as anything you're claiming I'm doing.

No, I wanted to point out that there's a ton of possibly objectionable stuff on the site, and was wondering what was special about this. Please stop putting words into my mouth. He is neither wrong nor hypocritical in his opinion, I'm just wondering how that doll is worse than the following.

Here's that link again. (Very NSFW)

Again, as with the Book of Vile Darkness, the DVD is clearly marked as being "Adult" in nature.
