Sage of the Scarred Lands
LE: Theme Song "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to do." :)

Actually two of my favorites from the Scarred Lands as well as the newly developed Bane, are LE. LE is all about finding, using and discarding people when they are no longer useful to you. You don't go out of your way to annoy powerful people, you just keep your own in check, keep planning and then blam, hit them when they don't expect it.

Fun with moral relativity...

Focus on his/her motivations, desires, weakness... define these, and then let them define the character. Don't view 'evil' as some kind of politcal party, or cause, with an agenda and monthly dues. If a character is evil then that character has a fundemental disregard for the rights of others. That's all. And that disregard doesn't always need to manifest itself.

Be a slaver. Think of yourself as a businessman in a misterunderstood trade. Convince yourself what your doing is actually moral. Give the character a crackerjack sense of humor.

Be drug dealer who uses his profits to aid his oppressed ethnic/religious minority. Have both be charitable and a cold blooded murderer if someone invades his turf.

Be a Zen Master of some kind who places the mastery of his art above the value of human life. Make his 'quest' to become in tune with the universe, while his actions serve to cut him off from --insert relevant race here--

Just a few thoughts....

decptive, seductive, manipulative

If your DM plans on running an evil campaign, expect there to be punishments. That being said avoid the punishments. Don't fall into any traps that the DM might lay for you. The thing about evil people is that they all have a goal. You must have one too. If your DM tries to influence you with this goal I'ld make sure that you can see the fruition of your plan. Unless you are CE don't die trying.

The best way to avoid falling into traps is to purposefully go the other way when in the prescence of others. i.e. be diplomatic to royalty and nobility, regard the "lessers" with respect, and treat women with a suaveness. (if you are a guy) Evil women should pretend to be evil pretending to be good, in other words have a seductive humor about their evilness.

When in private with just your PC's truly let out your evilness. Show them the most sure fire way for everyone to achieve their goals. Speak softly when doing this or prying ears may hear them. Make it seem like you are a neutral character trying to fit in with evil characters. Never suggest "original" evil ideas. The ideas should be yours, but you should encourage others to speak first so that your ideas seem to be theirs rather than yours.

Collect poison and lots of it. The best thing that you can ever do is to have poison on the ready for assasination attempts. Not only do they work well in combat, but they make for great concealed weapons. When using poisons make sure that you befriend who you are poisoning, and then try to place blame elsewhere preferably someone who stands in your way.

When Confronted by the policia, make sure that you shake off any and all blame. Don't shake it off onto your friends. If you must I would only shake it off onto one of them. Be unwilling about it, try to convince the police that it's thier idea. For inspiration watch the afformentioned "The Usuall Suspects".

By far the best thing you can do is to manipulate. It will be long and involved, but if you can get an enemy to risk his/her life to accomplish your goals, all the better.

Evil Spellcasters = Evil Spells

1. Get Monte's Book of Eldrich Might I and II. Lots of evil spells in there. Also, see if you can find the old Necromancer's Handbook.

2. Barbs of Shadow - Chains forged of darkness with fishhooks at their ends spring from the shadows in all directions and rip the flesh off your target.

3. Blood to Glass - the name says it all

4. Fleshcrafting and Bonecrafting - Can bend, warp, rend, and sculp flesh and bone as if it were clay. (Ever play Vampire? ;) )

5. Living Shield - Grab somone's spin and use it as a handle. Their body becomes an animate shield. (Another Vicissitude reference.)

6. Soul Burn - Does both fire and negative energy damage. (Magic: The Gathering reference)

7. Living Puppet - Veins rip from opponents arms and act like marrionet strings which you control telekineticly.

8. Bone Soldier? - The flesh peels of your opponent to reveal a skeletal warrior under your control.

9. Blood to Acid - again, the name says it all.

10. Haunting Memories - Character mentally experiences the death of everyone that ever died within the spells range. (Nasty in graveyards!)

11. Betrayal of the Body - Character's own bodyparts turn against him. (Ever see Evil Dead?)

12. Wall of Maggots - see Blood to Glass

etc....

Also, don't forget to take the Spell Sculpting Metamagic feat. :)

I think an evil enchanter or telepath (as you did before) would work well. Everybody gets charmed whether it is the horse trader so you get a better price or the town watch leader so you don't get arrested. Silent and still spell feats would be good. There are a ton of supplements for wizards and with sufficient ruthlessness there are great things you can do.

Most of all, have fun with it. If you want to cut loose, go completely Hackmaster and make a brutal barbarian fighter combo. Then get great cleave so that not even the little pet bunnies of your victimes, er unworthy combatants, can get past you when they panic break and run for it.

Telepath is a good idea.

There is something to be said for removing a persons free will. ;)

Two Words: Mind Seed

Mind Seed is probably worse than Thrall when it comes to evilness.

There are various approaches you can take to being evil, and all have surfaced to one degree or other so far:
  • Psychotic/psychopathic evil: the serial killer, a la Hannibal Lecter. Someone who does horrible things for the sheer pleasure of it.
  • Megalomaniac evil: People who have an agenda. Hitler, Genghis Khan, Stalin; the list is endless.
  • Selfish evil: ruthlessness writ small. Snake oil salesmen, hucksters, petty gangsters. Bonnie and Clyde, and possibly Don Corleone. The only agenda here is to get rich and powerful.
  • Comic evil: Dr Evil and Wile E. Coyote. A bumbler who pulls wings off butterflies.

Pick the one that you think will be the most fun to play. Even more so than good, evil has the potential to ruin your game if you end up playing a character you dislike.
