Are there any good non-comedy webcomics?

Everyone in the world has a favorite webcomic (and its always Penny arcade) but what I hunger for is a non comedic webcomic. Are there any really good ones out there?

There is so much potential for creative people to express their stories online to a limitlessly vast audience I find it hard to believe there are no Marvel or Manga style webcomics floating around out there, and am frustrated to admit that I simply haven't found any yet.

So I decided to try bringing my search to the good people of Enworld. Can anyone help me find compelling comic drama/action/fantasy/sci-fi material online?

Most of the best ones I've found are dead in the water. But they are good reading up to that point.

Lovarian Adventures: http://www.drunkduck.com/Lovarian_Adventures/index.php?p=58661
Desert Rocks: http://dr.ungroup.net/
New Gold Dreams http://www.newgolddreams.com/ OK, that one is both funny and not so funny at the same time.
Outsider http://well-of-souls.com/outsider/ - Space
Talismen (not a typo) - http://www.talismenseries.com/ - This was particularly irritating since it cuts off right on a cliffhanger.

Ones that have come to a normal conclusion

Inverloch - http://inverloch.seraph-inn.com/
Between Two Worlds - http://www.between-two-worlds.net/

And some that are still ongoing

The Dreamland Chronicles http://www.thedreamlandchronicles.com/
Fantasy Realms - http://www.fantasyrealmsonline.com/
Phoenix Requiem - http://requiem.seraph-inn.com/
Cascadia - http://www.cascadiacomic.com/comic.php
Crowfeathers - http://www.crowfeathers.net/ Fantasy Western

For manga style, there is Megatokyo.

I'm partial to Atland for fantasy. Well, Atland may not be totally non-comedic, but it's worth a read.

MegaTokyo is kinda comedy-oriented though, I think. Of course, I've only read it on occasion, and could never quite understand what the heck was going on.

Might be worth checking out.... I read these semi-regularly.

Low or high fantasy story-oriented webcomics:

Konsekai: Swordwaltzer: Body and Soul, Eternity is Never Forgiven
(recently got rebooted a few months ago, doesn't seem that Xero has restored his archive of the original strip yet, which ran 1-2 years ago; current version is only around half a dozen pages)

AesirCorp: Your Faith is our Business!
(mostly story with a bit of comedy, kind of short right now, author/artist is on hiatus, dunno when updates will resume)

Chisuji
(been around for a while and ongoing, a bit of humor but not very often, aside from the current chapter cuz the current artist has a less-serious style)

The Seraph Inn
(home to the Inverloch online manga, which has ended but ran for a few years and is still there, and more recently the author/artist began The Phoenix Requiem)

9th Elsewhere
(been going for a few years, still ongoing)

Kurenai Mashin: The Crimson Devil: Dream the Impossible
(about an elven prince-turned-ronin, been slowly updating over the past 2-3 years, currently on a short hiatus it seems)

Sci-Fi:

Zap! In Space!
(a bit of comedy, but mostly story)

Seraphic Blue
(been running for a few years, still ongoing)

Modern but kind of sci-fi or fantasy-ish:

Star Cross'd Destiny: Revenge is Eternal
(been slowly moving along for years, recently resumed updating)

Blech. Not my favorite, anyway. 8-Bit Theatre is my favorite comedy webcomic, and I dunno what my favorite non-comedy webcomic is. Dominic Deegan would count if not for the fact that it's as much comedy as story. Zap! I guess, though it's kind of comedic, but mostly story I think.

Hmm. Dunno if any of the comics I read are Marvel or otherwise professional-comic-bookish in style, though Zap! In Space and a few others kind of qualify. And kind of qualify as Manga or Anime-ish, though.

9th Elsewhere, Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, and one or two others I know of are in black-and-white but not drawn Manga-style (at least not quite, they're more Western art style). Hrmm...oh, AesirCorp is black-and-white and Manga-style, except for the panels going left-to-right as in Western comic books. Ghost Hunters is Manga-style and mostly black-and-white, but hasn't updated in at least 1-2 years. But there are tons of webcomics that have an Anime or Manga art style out there, really.

Among the ones I read, comedic and non-comedic, the ones with an anime/manga art style include Chisuji, Kurenai Mashin, AesirCorp, Ghost Hunters, Inverloch, Mystic Revolution, Van Von Hunter, Paradox Lost, Wander, Eidolic Fringe, Or Anime, and the few webcomics done by Bleedman.

Konsekai: Swordwaltzer is definitely either Marvel Comics or Japanese Anime in style, but I just can't be sure which one it's closer to in style. Star Cross'd Destiny is like Swordwaltzer in that I can't quite decide which style it is, but more Anime-ish than Marvel-ish. Seraphic Blue I'm not quite sure what to classify its art style as.... AppleGeeks is more Western-comic-bookish in style than Anime-ish, but has a few Anime-ish elements. Dresden Codak is kind of Anime-style I think, but it's hard to tell.

Ditto. 8BT is comedy gold.

As for a "non-comedy" webcomic... I think that's tough, because webcomics are very much based off of newspaper syndicated comics, which are mostly comedic. That said, I'm a huge fan of Sluggy Freelance when it brings the drama, though I think it's suffered a little lately, understandably. Also, while It's Walky can be very goofy, it's also a pretty good story, though I think it drops off a bit towards the end.
