Armour Specialisation Feat - where?

Malin Genie

First Post
Just a quick question - I saw a reference to an "Armour Specialisation" Feat in a character writeup. From what I could tell, it seemed to give +2 to AC when wearing a particular kind of armour, although I'm not sure what the prerequisites were. In which sourcebook(s) is this Feat located?

Thanks in advance!

The Warmain class gets this ability at 12th lvl. They can be found in Monte Cooke's Arcana Unearthed.

if they specialize in light armor it only gives a +1 bonus by the way.

You can also find an Armor Specialization feat in Mongoose's Gladiator and The Quintessential Fighter, which provides a +1 competence bonus to AC when wearing Light, Medium, or Heavy armor (chosen when you take the feat), or an Armor Focus feat in AEG's Rokugan sourcebook, which provides a +2 Dodge bonus to AC when wearing a specific type of armor.

Hi!

Not that I can pinpoint the original location of this:...

ARMOR SPECIALIZATION [General] (Web)

This allows the character to have better than normal mobility in armor.

Requirements: Proficiency in one type of armor (light, medium, or heavy)

Benefit: The character picks one type of armor (plate, splint, etc.); in that suit the character suffers speed penalties as a group one less (for example full plate is treated as a medium armor). The character also gets to ignore the maximum Dex bonus column and while he is wearing that one type of armor [and] the character suffers no arcane spell failure checks.

Special: A fighter may buy this as a bonus feat.

...but I think I found it in a netbook or something. I apologize for not being able to quote the original editor. :)

This feat is 3.0, mind you!

Kind regards

That feat looks horrendously broken to me. Given its existence I can see very little reason why everyone (including wizards) wouldn't be running around in full plate.

YMMV ofc

Yep. I couldn't imagine a fighter who wouldn't take this. (bar the ones who don't wear armour, natch) Clerics too. I suppose the idea is that the other feats in the netbook are broken enough to make them as desirable.
