Silently, Tycho waves everyone back a few paces, miming that he will go down first, and that everyone should follow if the okay is given. He takes his time going down the steps. (take 10).

He will try to stay low and use any available cover to reach the bottom of the stairs and sneak a peak at the lobby, but without exposing himself unneccessarily. His left hand has the flashlight close to his waist, ready to go on, and the right has the bat across his right shoulder, ready to strike or block. He is in a defensive position (-4 to hit, 17 AC;18 versus Melee).

Erudite: [sblock]IC: While remaining low, you creep to the bottom of the stairs, immediately taking cover behind a couple of bodies. You're hidden well enough to begin with, and the dimming sunlight only helps.

Peering into the lobby, you spot a very large figure by the front doors. He's no giant, but he's still a bit taller than any average man. His hair is shaggy and matted, hanging past his shoulders, and his ears are irregularly shaped, appearing almost like dog ears.

You can't tell clearly what he's doing. He's constantly pacing the walls, looking high and low. Glimpses of his face reveal glowing red eyes, and just when you're certain he's spotted you, he continues his pacing.

In his right hand he holds a pistol. Can wolf men - or whatever he is - even hold pistols?[/sblock]

[OOC What sort of cover is there around here, Shroom? What sort of layout does this first floor have? How far away is he from Tycho? I'm trying to formulate a plan.

OOC: The lobby is approximately 30 feet by twenty feet, each end opening into a narrow corridor leading to the stairs. Directly ahead from your current position is the desk that the clerk stands behind when he checks you in and out. To your right, a couple of couches and a coffee table (There are a few that also sit at the very opposite end as well). The windows are large, allowing for all of the remaining sunlight (though it is dying out at this point), and the glass double doors lead outside. Above you dangles a very large chandelier.

As for the shaggy-haired wolfman, he stands on the opposite end of the room, searching the tops and bottoms of the walls and occasionally walking to the front doors, trying to push but to no avail.

Tycho carefully removes a quarter from his pocket, all the while maintaining his hiding place. He is across from the stairs. When the wolfman has his back turned, he tosses it up the staircase, so as to have it land on the first landing, and come bounding back down the stairs.

Damn it, he thinks where is an assault rifle when you need one?

OOC: He's hoping to lure the wolfman to investigate the stairs, so he can attack from behind, and then have the others up the stairs rush down to help him engage this guy. If they can wolf-pack him, they might stand a chance.

"Use the kungpao chicken?" says Chen Jiu, who suddenly feels like he's in a bad text adventure game. "Give him fortune cookie at same time?"

IC: The wolf man jerks his head to his right as soon as he begins to hear the clink clink clink of the quarter rolling its way down the stairs, barely able to spot the damned thing in the dark. Pistol in a ready position, he cautiously makes his way to the stairs, his red eyes scanning the area for the slightest movement. Fortunately, he's apparently mistaken Tycho for one of the dead bodies (or maybe he just didn't see him at all) and he aims his pistol up the stairs. Tycho had better make his move before this thing's ready to make his.

Tycho springs at the wolfman, swinging his bat like Mike Piazza with a bad attitude.

[Please roll well, oh God of Electronic Dice Rollers!]

Baseball Bat Swing at the Head of a Pug Ugly Critter (1d20+3=4) [OOC Maybe the God of EDR needs pizza, not Piazza? I'm definitely on someones s**t list ;) ]

The bat swishes over the head of the creature as it bends over to inspect the quarter rolling down to its feet.

Damn. Fool. Hero. he thinks. "I'm getting kinda lonely down here!" he yells up the stairs.

Seriously shaken by the noises outside her door, despite her attempts to convince herself it was just a dog, Erin slowly gets to her feet and sits down heavily on her bed staring at her phone and wondering if she should try to call 911 again. She's not quite certain why she hesitates, but in truth she was badly shaken by the correlation between the noises down the phone and the noises at her door. Even though she can't account for the unwillingness logically, the whole experience leaves her loathe to try another phone call.
