Blade Barrier 3.0 Question

This is a question about the 3.0 Blade Barrier spell. It states that creatures in the barrier when created "can negate the damage with a successful Reflex saving throw, provided they can and do physically leave the area of the blades by the shortest possible route" (from the 3.0 SRD)

If a creature makes its saving throw, does this movement
(1) happen as 'bonus movement' out of turn
(2) happen out of turn, but then when the creaure's turn arrives it can only take a partial action as it has 'already' taken a move action
(3) only happen on the creature's turn (thus the creature does not move out of turn - but when its turn arrives is compelled to move or else take the damage anyway)?

I had always assumed (3), but then the possibility occured to me of a caster casting blade barrier (which takes effect just before her next turn) then casting, for example, a successful hold person - would the blade barrier then automatically inflict full damage, as the creature now cannot exit the spell's radius?

If your saving throw is succesfull in your next turn you must go out of BB or take full damage.
if you cannot leave the area of BB for any reason you take full damage too.
Is a good combo paralize a BBG and then cast BB on him.

Okay, leaving aside the paralysis option (for which CdG is definitely easier,) there are lots of spells that could potentially prevent a creature who has succeeded in its save from leaving if there is an interval between the barrier appearing and the creature needing to take the 'saving move' - for example entangle, Evard's, grease, web, solid fog etc.
