Building a decent druid

How do you make a decent druid NPC? this is to be a recurring villain, and so needs to be a decent challenge until about 10th level when I intend to kill him off. Right now he can be no higher than 3rd. I have never made a druid before: this is my first time DMing. I was thinking of making him a blighter at one point. Are they very strong? I would like him to be fairly dangerous.

PS He is one of the nature fanatics that thinks civilization shouldn't exist, currently. As I said, I am considering turning him into a Blighter at some point during the story. NE alignment a must

Seriously, just make a druid. You can't really go wrong.

You could also look into the Master of Many Forms and Warshaper Prestige classes. Make sure you get the errata for MoMF, though--otherwise, you eventually end up with a character capable of wild shaping into a Gargantuan Dragon with an upper limit of 5 HD...

Make sure untill he hits 5th - 6th level he has minions with him, he only attacks outside, uses his entangle just as much as a PC druid does.

when you are ready to retire him, you can bring in his bereaved nymph girlfriend.

Don't forget that you can use him in a dungeon as well, stone spikes...

Well, you could make wisdom your dump stat or not take natural spell... or multiclass into anything else...

Initial. Human. LN worships the god of death Wee Jas or the like. Darwinist, survival of the fittest, etc...

Get augmented summoning and summon a wolf with it's automatic trip. His companion should be a wolf with the automatic trip. When the enemies stand up they get an attack of opportunity. Then switch to dire wolf at higher levels. If your target flies, summon a flying critter to grapple and if possible ram them into the ground.

Natural spell or leadership is a must.

Be a Druid, stay a druid or multiclass and give the PC's easy XP.
