Call of Cthulhu d20/Dieties and Demigods Relative Power Levels

The Traveler

First Post
I posted this over at Nutkinland while these boards were down. Now that we're back up over here, I figured I'd cross-post.

Unfortunately, WotC did the two books rather wonkily, so they're not compatible on all fronts. For example, Call of Cthulhu uses Challenge Rating rather than Divine Rank, only giving Divine Rank as a factor of the broad categories. Anyway, here's my attempt to reconcile, color-coded and sorted roughly by both Divine Rank and CR (guessing where necessary).

Good compilation. It is weird that Yog Sothoth, the embodiment of space/time and extraplanar travel conduit that he is, is less powerful than Shub Niggurath, the embodiment of fertility and decay, considering the themes of the Cthulhu Mythos and all. I would have put it the other way around.

[maybe she has more worshipper points, all those druids and mother goddess cults, ya know. yoggy only has those insaney powerful wizard worshippers, after all]

Well, it confused me too, because even in the text of CoCd20, Azathoth, Yog Sothoth, and Shub-Niggurath are described as the triumvirate of the Outer Gods.

Still, he's statted like he's statted, and it's from the appendix that's only supposed to have bearing on mixing D&D and CoC. Go figure.

Hi there! :)

Interesting list (especially considering I don't have D&Dg yet).

Looking at my copy of CoC it says that Shub Niggurath is an Intermediate God (Divine Rank 13; same as Yog-Sothoth), CR is higher than Yog-Sothoth though.

If you wanted to detail the gods by DR/CR then I would suggest that gods of the same divine rank be decided by first level, then hit points.

The top two gods are:

Azathoth
Taiia

There are 5 gods of Divine Rank 19. I think Zeus and Re have equal levels, Zeus has more hp. Corellon has more levels than Moradin who may (or may not) have more than Odin?

Zeus
Re
Corellon
Moradin
Odin

Looking at the list I was disappointed to see that Hel and Ptah were mere Intermediate Powers.

It also appears they haven't detailed any Quasi/Hero-deities in the book!?

Hi Aaron mate! :)
