Can the Vampire Class make new vampires?

Seems kind of weird that a Vampire can't make new vampires. I mean, where do the vampire minions come from?

After all, dwarf characters can make new dwarves, elf characters can make new elves and gnome characters can make new gnomes!

EDIT: and yeah, I like that, such rules really are left to the DM, and that could be quite fun.

Let's just say you might want to scrub the kitchen table before eating off it again. I'll say no more.

For reasons of gameplay, there's also no rules for feeding off enemies outside of combat. Allies, yes, but you can't knock enemies out and eat them later.

If someone wanted a vampire spawn or something, I'd look at the companion character rules and think up something.

And here I'm going to say "I don't care." The Vampire class is an excellent representation of schlock B-movie vampires who are centred round being a vampire rather than anything else. They don't work for all campaigns. But if you want "Klaus von Hammer, from ze Hammer House of Horror" it's an absolute blast to play, and the Vampire class matches it well. It's a niche class but a useful one and doesn't fit anything else at all well. (The only other way I can see to do it is a specialised Monk build).
