THIS WEEK IN GREYHAWK FANDOM
Issue #3, July 11. 2002.

WOTC RUMORS CONFIRMED
The big talk the last couple weeks has been th rumored sale of WotC's periodicals department (Dragon, Dungeon, Star Wars Insider, et al). Confirmation comes in the form of a Press release, which is available, among other places, at the ENWorld news site:
http://www.enworld.org
Paizo Publishing, a company headed by WotC veterans Lisa Stevens and Johnny L. Wilson, has acquired the magazines and related staff members.

GREYHAWK GODS ART GALLERY AT WIZARDS.COM
WotC's site was unreachable for a lot of people last week, so I'm repeating this piece of news. They have released a sampling of the art from their Deities & Demigods
sourcebook that includes a gallery of the D&D pantheon, in other words, the
Greyhawk gods from the 3E PHB.

WOTC MESSAGE BOARDS GREYHAWK ROUND-UP
In the Living Greyhawk folder:
http://boards.wizards.com/community-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=246.
Current topics include more information on Gyricon, the Keoland/Geoff Living Greyhawk event.

In the Deities & Demigods Folder:
http://boards.wizards.com/rpg-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=222
Current Topics include an ongoing debate about the relevance of the Greyhawk/Core pantheon in D&D games, and some discussion about the history of the gods in Greyhawk's pantheon.

MORTALITY.NET MESSAGE BOARD ROUND UP
Mortality.net hosts a greyhawk folder in their message boards.
You can check out Mortality's
forum at:
http://www.mortality.net/board/board.php?FID=47

Also of interest at Mortality, to some players out there at least, is a new project called 'Back in Print: The Vintage AD&D Expansion Project'. The people involved have taken it upon themselves to resume producing new material for the out of print editions of D&D, aa definite must see for those who don't use the current offerings from WotC.

LIVING_GREYHAWK DISCUSSION LIST:
Current topics include 'must have' magic items for PCs and the proliferation of higher level magic. The list is heavy in RPGA policy and Living

CANONFIRE AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT:
Our featured author is Grodog. Besides being one of the editorial staffmembers of the site, Grodog has been a regular contributor of articles, such as his Demonomicon of Iggwilv series that explores the diabolical side of Greyhawk. Grodog is also our unofficial liason with Rob Kuntz, and has posted a few interesting articles from that Greyhawk legend. You can see all of Grodog's articles,
and learn how to contact him at his canonfire member page:

July 17 - Alex Jurkat of Eden Studios
July 24 - Peter Adkison of GenCon, former CEO of WotC
July 31 - Doug Herring of Mystic Eye Games
Aug 7 - No chat this week, Gencon break

Mortality Radio Shoutcast
Every other Friday (July 19th is the next one) at 8 PM EST Mortality.net
hosts a unique chat/webcast hybrid that is worth checking out. The host,
Adlon, features industry celebrity interviews and live call-ins from the
audience in a fun, freewheeling atmosphere (though, like the Greytalk weekly
chat, you might want to put the kiddies to bed first, adult language and
topics happen now and then). You'll
need an IRC client (like mIRC) to participate, and a audio program, such as
winamp, capable of streaming mp3 audio from the net.
IRC: irc.mortality.net port 6667 channel: #mortality
Once you log into the chat, they'll give you the details on connecting your
audio program to the streaming media.

Wizards of the Coast chatrooms
WotC's chat calendar is down currently, if anyone knows of upcoming chat
events there that would interest the Greyhawk community, please let me know
so I can pass the information along.
web chat (requires a small downloadable plugin for your web browser)

Greytalk Weekly Chat
As usual, the Weekly Greytalk chat continues every thursday night at 8 PM
EST until dawn (roughly, whenever we call it a night) Come early or come
late, there's plenty of Greyhawk discussion with some of the who's who of
the Greyhawk Community, as well as friendly banter and some risque humor.
Put the kids to bed, and if you're not an old fart like some of us regulars
there, check with your parents before logging in.
Every thursday night at 8 PM EST

IRC: chat.psionics.net port 6667 channel #greytalk

GOOGLEHAWK!
A new feature for This Week In Greyhawk Fandom, Googlehawk spotlights an
interesting Greyhawk resource from around the internet. I simply enter
'greyhawk' into Google.com's search engine, and randomly pick an interesting
result to share.

This week it's Russ Taylor's Greyhawk Online Adventures. Russ's site is famous for its collection of Greyhawk God writeups, and you can also find his excellent 'Repair of the Return to the Keep on the Borderlands' article here. A great site that is well worth bookmarking for reference. Visit Russ's site at :
http://www.cmc.net/~rtaylor/greyhawk/

Well, that's all for this week. See you next thursday with another helping
of Greyhawk from around the net.
