Casting while falling

Just a random question

Say your a druid with wildshape

you take the form of a bird and fly high above the group you see an enemy group and figure you can get off a spell they'll never see coming.

You change to human form cast the spell while freefalling and then change back into a bird before you hit the ground.

How many rounds would you see this taking? and based on that how high above the ground would you need to be to get back into bird form before you go head first into the ground like a dart.

I sincerely hope that spell is feather fall. Probably a better ides to cast that first and then take the plunge. If that wont work buy a few safe wing emblems.

This thread is a trap because unless that Druid is 5th level, there aren't any Druids without Natural Spell. ;)
Untrue because there's also druids using the PHB2 Shapechange alternative class feature which makes the Natural Spell feat useless :)

Poor druids.... being forced to take a gimpy alternative.

QFT, gimpy alternatives aside.

To answer the OP, no. Probably not even from really high because a bird can't just start flying while falling at a human's terminal velocity. Don't bother getting into the absurdity of determining the physics of it, either.
