The People of the Monolith
Stephen Bull ($5.00, 63 page PDF)

Young poet Justin Geoffrey has returned from Europe, his trembling hands clutching a collection of poems of such vivid imagery that many question whether they could truly be written by the same man who produced Geoffrey's earlier works! Based on the short story The Black Stone by Robert E. Howard, this 1920s scenario takes a team of investigators on a journey to Hungary, tasked with following the trail of Justin Geoffrey in order to find proof of his journey. Of great interest to the publishers is the item at the heart of Geoffrey's greatest work - a black monolith somewhere in the wilds of central Hungary.

Sensitive Cases Division
Patrick Corcoran ($2.99, 68 page PDF)

The Sensitive Cases Division (SCD) does not officially exist. It is an informal collection of individuals that are brought together to tackle very difficult and strange cases. There are no official records with the name Sensitive Cases Division (SCD) attached to them. Most people assume it is just an urban legend.

Sensitive Cases Division is a supplement meant to provide a gaming table with an organization that has ties to official law enforcement channels but operates in an extra-legal fashion. The intent of the supplement is to provide a ready-made organization, and a set of 10 different pre-generated character types that can be plugged into a scenario. You could always use the Sensitive Cases Division and the characters as NPCS for a rival faction or antagonistic group as well.

Midwest Mythos: Heart of the Music
A.M. Viers ($3.99, 33 page PDF)

The S.S. Madam Columbia is a grand casino boat from Chicago, and is often the envy of those that are unable to board. However, with new management and the promise of Spritiualist leaders and occultists on board, along with a cheaper ticket price, the boat is open to many who might want to enjoy a night gambling, drinking, and learning about the darker side of the world. What many do not know is the secret that lays beneath the deck and how a murder on board reveals that everything is not how it appears.

Creator A.M. Viers says, "Reviews are appreciated to continue improving the quality of such scenerios. I wish to create many more situations exploring my home, the American Midwest, and every odd thing that exists within it."

We Dream of Flying
Jim Phillips (FREE, 30 page PDF)

A disparate group of international elites have, each for their own reasons, boarded Flight 19 from Los Angeles to Tokyo on a first-class ticket. The flight promises to be a quiet affair - allowing for time to rest, relax, and perhaps even get some work done. The fight is completely full, but an unfortunate coincidence and the all-too-understandable sorrow of a lonely little girl will lead them deep into a mystery from which there may be no escape.

Intended as a Modern Day exercise in mystery, character development, and role-playing interactions between the Investigators themselves, there are no monsters to be fought and no cultists to defeat. There is only a mystery, and the question of how the Investigators will ultimately choose to resolve the terrible and fantastical situation they find themselves in.

Plus new releases in Finnish, French, Korean, and Spanish!

William Bailey's Haunted Mansion
Newly-released on the Miskatonic Repository, our platform for independent Call of Cthulhu creators at DriveThruRPG, William Bailey's Haunted Mansion is a masterclass of showing how you can deftly concoct a (fictional) Cthulhu Mythos tale out of real historical happenings, bringing in known locations, authentic artefacts and documents, and actual people who lived at the time.

First presented as a live actual play production at the Ballarat Heritage Festival in May 2023, this one-shot Call of Cthulhu adventure is set in the turbulent 1890s of the historic city of Ballarat in Victoria's Goldfields, Australia. The scenario explores some of the places, figures and legends in that folklore and the machinations of a real but today largely forgotten cult which operated in western Victoria in the late 19th century; the New Lights or Stephenites, after their ruthless and charismatic leader Stephen.

We congratulate creators David Waldron and Shannon Nichols, and the talented players and musicians who brought the story to life at the gaming table! And thanks to Ballarat Libraries who helped make it all happen at the Ballarat Heritage Festival (in Call of Cthulhu, librarians are the heroes, don't you know...)

screen-shot-2023-10-03-at-1.45.30-am.png

William Bailey's Haunted Mansion
David Waldron, Shannon Nichols ($5.99, 39 page PDF)

William Bailey was a figure both idolised for his philanthropy yet infamous for his ruthlessness in business and the depths of the skulduggery involved in his running legal battles with the Learmonth family. His 1883 mansion, which still stands on Drummond St in Ballarat is often claimed to be one of Australia's most haunted buildings in local folklore.

One-shot scenario, set in 1890s Ballarat. The Investigators, based on the historical figures Detective Thomas Montague, Dr Bella Guerin, Spiritualist James Curtis, and Skeptic Clara Baldwin, will explore the mysterious events unfolding in mining magnate William Bailey's Mansion and the dark manipulations of the historic New Light cult, led by their enigmatic leader Steven.

The four pregen investigators, all the NPCs, the backstory, an evil cult and a terrifying artifact* are based on historical characters, events and objects. Illustrated throughout with period photographs and actual floorplans.

*The Ballarat Mechanics Institute's Touching the Full Redemption of Mankind by the Death and Blood of Christ Jesus is one of the only two examples of anthropodermic bibliopegy (binding books in human skin) in Australia. This real book - which you can actually go and see in the Ballarat Mechanics Institute's collection today - features in this scenario. And for more fascinating historical stories of uncovering the forgotten secrets of Ballarat’s dark and bizarre past (and potential Call of Cthulhu nightmarefuel) do check out David Waldron's award-winning Tales from Rat City podcast.

Originally, William Bailey's Haunted Mansion took shape as a live historical roleplaying session at the Ballarat Heritage Festival in May 2023, held at the town hall. You can watch the performance here:

Zgrozy from Beyond anthology
Zgrozy started in Poland and quickly became very popular both there and in the English-speaking Call of Cthulhu community, having released over 30 supplements—scenarios, bestiaries, and more—on the Miskatonic Repository, Chaosium's platform for independent Call of Cthulhu creators at DriveThruRPG.

The Zgrozy: From Beyond anthology contains eight Call of Cthulhu scenarios from the well-received series. It includes Shepherd of Moths, Future Echoes, The Vernissage, A Greater Goal, Noctilline, Lords by Birthright, An Inner Call, and The Mist Sower. The anthology also includes two new guides: Let Cthulhu Happen!, about running non-linear Call of Cthulhu games, and Campaigns From Beyond, about combining Zgrozy scenarios into a campaign. It is available in PDF, and Standard and Premium POD.

“Zgrozy” is a slightly archaic Polish word for “Horrors” or “Terrors.” Following advice from English-speaking Call of Cthulhu fans, the team decided to keep the original title for foreign releases, since it sounds suitably unspeakable and blasphemous to non-Polish ears.

To find out more about Zgrozy, visit their Facebook page or see their other English releases.

Zgrozy: From Beyond - scenario anthology for Call of Cthulhu
Marek Golonka, Michał Gralak, Sylwester Gdela, Piotr Kozioł, Keith Mageau ($19.99 for PDF, plus POD options, 199 pages)

Note, if you already own one or more of these titles you will receive a discount: see the product listing for details.

Of course, there will be music; and dancing, and the latest fashions.

Independent Call of Cthulhu creator Marcus Bone poses the question, Should you buy this scenario? for his new Miskatonic Repository scenario, Stench of an Open Grave... and gives a compelling answer:

"This scenario was created with the express purpose of introducing new players to Cthulhu Dark Ages and as such presents what I hope is a simple, almost linear, mystery for them to explore. With this audience in mind, ‘Stench’ attempts to downplay the more fantastical elements that can sometimes seep into Dark Ages games and instead tries to bring to life the culture and experience of living in the Early Middle Ages. Of course, this may mean more experienced role-players (especially those well versed in the Dark Ages) might find the story a little too simplistic for their tastes, but nevertheless I would still like to think that you ‘hold in your hand’ a well thought out, fun scenario; one that can give a good night or two’s entertainment for any fan of the Cthulhu Mythos."

Ghost Trade

What would you trade?

Nestled among the Appalachian foothills of Maine, the small town of Pennybrook has become home to a ghost story: a restless spirit wanders the cemetery at night, led by a ghostly lantern. Or just the groundskeeper making his nightly rounds? No one can say for sure. Nestled in the swirling mists of Pennybrook there are answers to be found about this ghost story. But also a question must be asked: What would you trade?

Children of the Web
Zachary Pagram ($3.00, 16 page PDF)

All that remains of the previous expedition is a trail hacked through the jungle, and an abandoned seaplane. Investigators must overcome the threats of the jungle, explore a time-lost ruin, and evade the notice of the Spider God, Atlach-Nacha.

Tuorsjaure - A shadow of what once was
Oscar Sedholm ($4.99, 30 page PDF)

"Åke Rönnkvist was gone. And it wasn’t just him, but his entire house and yard had been swallowed by the earth. Even the dog pen and the garage were gone. The only thing that remained was an enormous, gaping, dark hole. At the bottom - at least a twenty-metre drop - roots, gravel, and rocks were the only things visible now. News agencies swarmed the place for a few days and seismologists proclaimed it “the freak accident of the century”.

A sinkhole in a region where this is unheard of. Even the BBC visited the small, unseemly village of Tuorsjaure, at what they described as the ‘edge of the world in the ancestral lands of the Sámi people’. The locals were not impressed. Part of the Northern Lights and Darkness Collection.

The Phthonus Cabinet - A Gaslight-era Scenario
John Crowdis ($7.95, 70 page PDF)

Worse yet, the winning bidder threatens to sue him into insolvency if he does not produce it within a handful of days.
