D&D 5E Clarification about Flaming Sphere

well, if it stops moving when it hits the creature, as soon as it's edge touches the creature it stops moving, so they can't be ocupying the same space.

5', but yes. That's the whole square.

I agree that the sphere never shares a space with a (living) creature. If you "ram it into" an opponent, that's a bit like a Bull Rush; in the fiction the sphere makes contact with the enemy, but for grid purposes it ends in the square adjacent to them from which it struck.

Also, if they used the same space wouldn't the verb be "engulf" and not "ram"? (real question)

I agree with those that say it stays in it's own square.

If the caster rams it into a creature, it then stops in its own square.

Seems that the overwhelming majority agree with the player's rules interpretation, so I'll go with that.
