Class ideas

My warlock PC is probably going to die very soon, so it's about time to roll up a replacement. Unfortunately, I find myself without any inspiration on which character class to choose. I thought I'd ask you clever folks if you have any ideas.

The party's current makeup: fighter, cleric, bard, Ninja, and Mystic Theurge. My most obvious option is to be a single-class mage, since we lack one, but in our last major campaign I played a sorcerer for 20 levels straight. I'd like to do something different this time.

What I'd really like is a fun combination of nonstandard races, classes and PrCs, to make it more interesting than another vanilla character out of the PH. Bonus points for weird stuff like "warforged Hexblade/Occult Slayer" (though I have no idea if that particular example makes any sense).

This character will be coming in at ECL 6. We have access to all the Complete books and all the WotC Monster Manuals.

So. Anybody have a fun idea to share?

If it is allowed in your campaign I would suggest trying a Psion. They can be very fun to play and if the correct powers are chosen very powerful. If you have access to the XPH you will find an assortment of different races, some new and some old.

They can go toe to toe in a melee augmented with the right assortment of powers and can be devastating at a distance with some of their other powers, similar to a wizard/sorcerer.

A monk/psion is a powerful combination with the right feats and powers. Specialise in psychometabolics or telekinetics, learn some good psychoportative powers, and take levels in an assassin/ninja type prestige class...

How about trying a dog-riding halfling druid? You can use racial substitution class levels in Races of the Wild. A mounted character in dungeons. And your party seems not having a nature specialist.

Or, you may choose alternative spell-casting classes such as Wugen, Shugenja, Spirit Shaman, etc.

*Edit* As Eberron is so popular lately, all of my suggestions have basis in things Eberron.

Halfling (or Faen/Spryte if your DM will allow... from Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed/Evolved) Druid 5 / Beast Master 1 (continuing raising in Druid after) Take Natural Bond feat from Complete Adventurer. You would have a Companion on the -3 List as per a Druid of 9th level. (make sense?) If your DM doesn't like the Faen, see if he'll allow a Talenta style Halfling on a Clawfoot (both ECS)

or

Kalastar Barbarian 1 / Soulknife 4 / Pyro (XPH) 1. Rage and chaos!! And eventually flinging fire like a monkey flings poo. (eventually your fire dmg will best what your Warlock would've done. eventually)

or

Human Barbarian 6 ~ Feats (all Eberron CS) ~ 1st: Heroic Spirit (bonus Action Pts), Raging Luck (1 extra action pt everytime you rage) 3rd: Action Surge (spend 2 Action pts to get an extra Standard or Move action) 6th: Power Attack (Now, with Whirling Frenzy (Unearthed Arcana), Base Str of 18, using Action Surge on a full Powerattack in a flank w/+1 Falchion.... +7/+7/+7/+2 for 2d4 + 22 <18-20x2>) (hey, from where I'm standing, a pure barbarian is an odd build :p)

or

As a more oddball Build of the above Barbarian...
Dwarf Barbarian 1 / Fighter 2 / Rogue 3 ~ Feats ~ 1st: Heroic Spirit 2nd: Power Attack 3rd: Action Surge 4th: Improved Init. 6th: Extra Rage. Your BA suffers slightly, but throwing 2d6 Sneak into the mix for a Tumbling Bbn/Fi/Rog isn't bad. Lacking raging luck will limit how often you pull off your Action Surges, but it was a toss up between extra rage and that. On the bright side, by RAW a dwarf can Tumble in Fullplate... unless there is errata I'm unaware of :p

or

Um, might throw more out there later... I'm hungry :p
